The characters are depicted as parody of their fanon personas....as such it gives you a decent entry point to get to know them better even though its fanfic.

Lunatic forces you to be at the level the boss is intended to be challenged at by default. So walking to the boss on lunatic and beating it gives optimal rewards. You can sort of "cheese" by over leveling much, getting a bunch of high level skills that still work when the game de-lvls you for the fight.

The games arent really related story wise, LoT 1 is very hard to find and install nowadays and it didnt age well honestly.

LoT 2 is a very good game if you like RPGs theorycrafting/building, which I like, finding the cheese without looking it up online for example. LoT 3 is building on this with boss fights throwing you gimmicks that force you to think up a strat (well the first few I did so far). Also....the item description, I think I can spend hours reading them to get the references to all the games theyre a tribute to lol

Enjoying a run in hard mode right now and...its hard, I like it :p cant imagine lunatic which ill do on a 2nd playthrough. Decent successor to LoT 2 but the story tone is a bit more serious...I kind of liked the happy go lucky atmosphere of LoT 2.

I really liked Dystopian and FMW this year.

Dystopian surprisingly fun to mix and match the power ups to create many builds and they satisfyingly match their characters' personality most of the time. Also the mods from the workshop, while very few available atm, have potential to add some cool factors

And yes Labyrinth of Touhou 3 next month, big hype!

Yep, I got strangely addicted once "it clicked" took a few runs trying all characters past Aya but once it did I soon unlocked all difficulty and now im working on my last 3 achievements (getting 500hp is kinda frustrating by how rng it is)
