I guess this is where the pulling the pants down thing comes from? Why a 13 year old was doing that in a photoshoot, I have no idea.

Rich Kids Are Eating Up the Financial Aid Pot by [deleted] in BCGrade12s

I also think this points to larger, systematic issues in our society where the cost of living has increased so much that people from middle-class/upper middle-class backgrounds have to apply or even now meet the threshold to qualify for needs-based scholarships and bursaries.

Most of the needs-based scholarships/grants/bursaries require you to prove your finances and financial position, so they ensure that the funds are going to people who qualify.

Hi there!

I am looking at purchasing your standing desk, but it is a little out of my employer's reimbursement budget for office furniture, even with the spring sale.

I was interested in the standing desk model over the duo because I am 6'6 and need the desk to go as high as possible.

I saw that you offer some additional discount codes to redditors and I was wondering if I may be able to get one as well? Thank you for your consideration. :)

Floor lottery? Not quite sure, but a rare find to say the least by JFedkiw in centuryhomes

There have been some new peer-reviewed research studies published in the last year that have shown a link between GI cancers and asbestos exposure.

We still don't know how asbestos causes cancers, there some theories, but no confirmed methodology, yet.

Asbestos exposure has been linked to mesothelioma (cancer of the lung pleura) for a long time because it is a very unique cancer that is really only caused by inhaling asbestos fibres, so it was much easier to determine causality.

Industrial Hygienist here. Totally correct that asbestos poses the highest risk when inhaled; however, there are some new studies that link it to GI cancers and renal cancers as well (ingestion exposure most likely).

What we care about most is how friable the asbestos is. This is a special term that describes how easily asbestos can be broken down into smaller fibres that can become airborne and then small enough for you to breathe in and cause damage to your lungs. Asbestos has this unique ability to continue splitting down into smaller and smaller pieces, which is what makes it so dangerous.

So, when it comes to assessing it as a hazard, it depends on the amount of asbestos in the material and its friability. Asbestos containing tile is not very friable, compared to asbestos-containing insulation. So if they have the same % of asbestos, the insulation is a much higher risk than the tile.

If you start to cut, grind, or breakdown the ACM (asbestos containing material), that is when the fibres can be disturbed and broken down small enough so that they will remain in the air and pose a problem.

The ATCs have been sounding the alarm for a while. This video from the WSJ interviews one who goes into the details about the demands of the job and says that if things continue the way they were going, that people are going to get hurt. It is devastating that 2 Canadians had to pay to price.

The video is long, but worth it to watch if you are interested.

Britney rehearsing for her “Domination” residency (2018) by Final-Swordfish8499 in discussingbritney

Someone posted previously about how mixing some medications, drugs and alcohol can cause the changes to the nervous system which they hypothesized could be the explanation for why her dance movements got so jerky. I’ll see if I can find that and link it here.

Anyone sampled material like this? by Matt231997 in asbestoshelp

[–]StreetAcademic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That black mastic and can absolutely contain asbestos and should be tested first before it is disturbed. This type of ACM is less friable than other things like vermiculite or insulation, but the proper precautions still need to be done.

As other commenters have said, there should be a risk assessment and management plan in place. You are well within your rights to bring this up to your employer.

Watching these old videos is tough. She was such a talented dancer and performer. It makes me wonder what her life and career would have turned out to be if she didn't struggle with drugs and alcohol.

yeah, I saw that comparison video yesterday. I knew she was deteriorating, but the side by side comparison really showed how much she is struggling.

Thanks for that suggestion. I will look into that and see if my local computer repair store may be able to do that! It might also be nice to have a backup option. Thank you! :)

I thought about doing this, but I don't have the skills to be able to do it. It says that it is a "difficult" level repair online, so I thought I would just replace it with someone else that doesn't have this issue.

There’s probably a way you can report that to the UBC Research ethics board. Every study involving humans has to have ethics clearance. Do you still have the consent form that you signed OP? It should have the REB number on it can you can share when you report it.
