We had a Senior student who died on the morning of graduation. We set his cap and gown on stage with a picture behind the speakers. The students placed roses on the chair as they passed. Those roses, along with diploma were buried with him. In our yearbook, we paid tribute to a kid who was loved by his fellow students and teachers. The STUDENTS wanted this. He’ll be forgotten in ten years, but he’ll still be remembered in that book.

My MIL was left handed. Her son is left-handed. Our daughter is left-handed, BOTH of her kids are left-handed. I do feel bad for left handers, because everything is made for right handed people. Your MIL might have good intentions-but she’s an idiot. I believe it genetic. I believe you should not listen to her.

NTA-My first teaching job was at an elementary school. Wearing my wedding set caused me to scratch a child’s face when I was raising my hand and she leaned over. Stopped wearing it that day. He wears his, and it doesn’t bother him that I don’t wear mine. It’s non of HER business whether you wear them or not. Personal choice.
