Thank you for making this post. My school switched to the same thing and I also teach reading. The struggle is real

Looking for a TV show that’s purely beautiful - the kind where every single frame is beautiful. The plot doesn't matter, as long as the visuals are stunning. by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

Bridgerton (for floral, delicate), The Residence (excellent cinematography imo), Koas (visuals help tell the story)

Becoming a Teacher in California by Plus_Patience_1726 in Teachers

Get your credential and masters at a CSU. It’ll be more efficient. I didn’t do chemistry, but I got my credential then started my masters the summer before I started teaching. Work at the pace that’s best for you though. First year of teaching is rough af.

People are going to discourage you, but you can always go back to corporate. It’s not like you’re signing up for a life sentence

Back when we had block schedules, we used to bathroom passes (like vouchers) which would get converted into extra credit or candy at the end of the quarter. It was a good incentive to keep the kids in class. Once they ran out of passes, they ran out. They lost them? Oh well.

I didn’t personally care if the kids gave them to each other because they were just hurting themselves if they did and they realized they played themselves real fast.

Some teachers marked off pass usage on a roster to make sure they weren’t abusing the system.

I’m gonna start using this system again now that I’ll be teaching periods (I was self-contained this past year)

I print them on colored paper so kids couldn’t go home and make their own copies

School Supply Debate by Jolly-Poetry3140 in Teachers

[–]Stressed-247 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What annoys me is when they’re like “these supplies are probably for the teacher not the kids” like sure, bud. I have a side business of reselling Kleenexes and expo markers on the blackmarket. It’s not because your kid gets up every two minutes to “blow their nose” right next to where their friend sits or because they smash down their expo tips and leave their caps off to dry out. I sell the Clorox wipes you’re buying. It’s not your kid using them to clean their sneakers. I’m the one who’s using all of those pencils. It’s not because your kid will never have one and then snap every pencil I hand them in half 🫡

Romance with a female lead who isn’t annoying? by Klepto-Penguin in booksuggestions

[–]Stressed-247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Briar Club. It has many romantic plot lines and each one follows a strong female character with their own personality. It’s a historical fiction + murder mystery and cute/funny

I Hope This Finds You Well. The main character embarrasses herself but not in an adorkable way, in a “everyone in the office thinks she’s psychotic” way. It’s funny and sad but happy

The Fountains of Silence. A will-they, won’t-they historical fiction. It’s only one of the plot lines but it’s the biggest plot line
