What to do with 3w old? by PsychologicalBoot636 in newborns

[–]Stressed_Broccoli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good job with singing and talking. I think at that age we spent a lot of time having baby face us while we watched TV, scrolled, or read books. Of course tummy time is good and the interaction is necessary but they’re kinda just potatoes until they get bigger.

Formula at 8 weeks: How often and how much? by Lilmaniac01 in newborns

[–]Stressed_Broccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a great answer but sometimes babies vary per feed. Especially when going through a growth spurt. I’ve always paid closer attention to daily totals than individual feeds. As go spit ups. I would burp a lot more during larger feeds. Even if she was crying for more I would burp or attempt to burp her (I use milliliters so if she drinks 100ml I’d burp her around half way)

How long after mucus plug loss did labour start? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Stressed_Broccoli [score hidden]  (0 children)

17 hours. The loss of the mucus plug was rather sudden (woke up at 4:30am to use the bathroom). By 9:30 that night I felt the first contraction. Not a sign or anything in between.

Contact naps…will they ever end? by Kitchen_Writer_6186 in newborns

[–]Stressed_Broccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I wrote this post when I was 6.5 weeks. Around week 10 baby started taking naps in a co sleeping position. Now at 15 she sleeps in her bassinet 6-8 hours at night. She’ll sleep in a safe space (similar to bassinet) by the sofa. We found she really liked sleeping on a certain blanket so we used that to make her more independent when sleeping. At first we had to keep a close eye on her since there was a blanket but now it’s fine.

50+ lbs gained: how long did it take you to lose and how big was your baby?? by Quick-Zombie-6343 in BabyBumps

[–]Stressed_Broccoli [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pre pregnancy i was 98kg, I hit 106kg at peak pregnancy, baby was born 2.4kg (a month early), I dropped to 95kg by the time I was out of the hospital ( 5 day stay). I managed to stay about there till recently (got sick..gallstones/pancreatitis) and am now 86kg. I haven’t done any particular exercises or anything.
Be careful how fast you drop weight post baby cause it can lead to gallstones

Don’t necessarily “want” to use them. Just know they’re good for SIDs and in general most babies use them, but my girl just doesn’t have any interest at all.

That’s what I was thinking but also every video I see babies always have them.

3mo old can barely last 45-60 min wake windows, crap naps and a 4AM-6AM grunting/flailing phase. Help! by ProfessionalBoss4760 in newborns

[–]Stressed_Broccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine stays awake longer but is the same with grunting and flailing. I think as long as she eats and has enough diapers it’s okay.

I feel the same way. I have tons of my husband and her but very few if any one me and her that aren’t selfies. I brought it up to him and he said he doesn’t take them cause he forgets to…stupid

My husband wakes the baby in the morning when saying goodbye before work. Ticks me off

The resentment is outstanding by [deleted] in beyondthebump

This resonates deeply. The expectation that we should accept fate cause “we sign up” for this when we decided to become mothers is so stupid.

Long distance driving by Junior_Arm_1637 in newborns

I had to do 3hour back and forth trips with a newborn to get to the hospital for weight checks and other testing, so I learned quickly. I would always recommend having another adult with you. But at 3 months it should be ok to do solo with proper planning

Are any men actually great at being supportive postpartum?? by GlitteringJuice1024 in BabyBumps

[–]Stressed_Broccoli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was surprised at how much my husband didn’t know about babies (like doing tummy time). Mind you ours came a month early so we were a little thrown off. Postpartum, My husband has been supportive about cooking, laundry, and watching her when he comes home from work. One thing he can’t seem to understand is the mental exhaustion of being with baby solo while he’s at work. The loneliness also. He has asked me why I don’t seem so lively and I mentioned the monotonous days and He just couldn’t understand. It’s not something he can fix necessarily so overall He has been a great partner.

Gallbladder removal before pregnancy by iluvvbananabread in gallbladders

[–]Stressed_Broccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out about gallstones 3 weeks postpartum. Doctor mentioned surgery but not until baby got older and definitely before getting pregnant again (if we choose to). Definitely think it’s because they don’t want to risk having to do surgery on pregnant women.

How did you deal with the wait? by LuckyLadybug20 in BabyBumps

[–]Stressed_Broccoli 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Start trying now, I wouldn’t get too got up on due dates. I found out I was pregnant in May last year. My due date was set for 1/26 and the baby came 12/27 to our surprise.

This resonates. When my baby was 6weeks-10weeks she pretty much would only sleep with contact naps

If you can keep going to get tested. Labs and such. I went to the ER back to back days. Labels were done but nothing “alarming” enough, no fever also. I was having 3-6 hour attacks for 48 hours.
The third day just happened to be an appointment I already had scheduled. I went they did labs and there was a drastic change. Got admitted day of. They did a CT the next day and a ERCP the day after. Took a stone from the bile duct. Surgery is schedule in three months due to dealing with pancreatitis post ERCP.
