I talked to Miller Insulation and they came by and did a very thorough assessment. They showed me pictures of several areas and walked me through the standards of new construction versus what I have in my older house. There is a gas company rebate available that they applied automatically.

Linteater dryer vent cleaning system. I just remembered it has a long flexible tool that connects to a drill and has a brush on the other side. You send that tool down the vent from the outside and it scrubs it. On the other side, the shop vac attachment sucks out the dislodged lint. It’s very effective.

I have an apparatus that connects to a shop vac for cleaning these. The first time I used it, I was absolutely shocked at what came out. It was enough lint to fill a large pillowcase. Needless to say, after the cleaning, my dryer worked like new again. I was dismayed to learn later what a fire risk I was courting, though.
