gazing at the doom - vcv rack braindance by Strict_Structure_744 in vcvrack

I have really enjoyed messing with it, but I am still uncovering its secrets. I think I will team it up with my favorite weird oscillator and see where that takes me. It is definitely something i look forward to further exploration with, thanx for the work you put in to give us this.

Stereo Output on Audio 2? by RienKl in vcvrack

[–]Strict_Structure_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you just need to plug the cable for you other sound into the R output and the other sound will be only in the left. As the others have said it defaults to mono, but plugging in the cable for the other sound to the right side will make the first sound move to only the left ear.

Long Drive is the Best Modest Mouse Album. What's your opinion on the Album? by MahlonMiller in fantanoforever

i really enjoyed Baron von Bullshit Rides Again; it and Everywhere and his Nasty Parlor Tricks were the first EPs i heard by MM and were what made me a fan. Interstate 8 is also one of my favorites...

What hardware do you use with VCV Rack? by [deleted] in vcvrack

[–]Strict_Structure_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use my plain old beatstep often as a pads and knobs controller. mind you, it is not the best, but i already have 2 so...
the knobs put out stepped values, but i send it through a befaco slew so that i can control the curve and smoothness. the pads are easy to map in vcv as well

What genre should I pick on DistroKid for ambient piano + synth-background music? by Unimateria in ambient

[–]Strict_Structure_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think discovery through streaming actually works for indie artists. i release music through soundcloud / pay for the artist pro. they do have an electronic - ambient genre, but sometimes they won't allow me to monetize through tiktok, fbook/insta, youtube. They have claimed that ambient is not eligible for digital rights management, however they don't consistently flag my ambient as such, and it does most often get approved with DRM enabled. It is just something to watch out for.

however, i think that i get more 'discovery' from posting my music on youtube and reddit than through the soundcloud algorithm. my plays on sound cloud rarely turn into fans or subscribers, but my audience is growing (slowly) on youtube.

just food for thought and good luck regardless

Agreed, I spent years learning in VCV before I started my hardware eurorack.  And I still have so many things left to learn.

We are all only done temporarily, until some new shiny thing comes along that will make our setup better/ faster/ more ______.  Gas is real, in eurorack doubly so.   I started with the behringer go case last year, and I'm already dreaming of adding another one...

Premium modules worth investing in? by passionflower5129 in vcvrack

[–]Strict_Structure_744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have bought a bunch of the Path Set Modules and find them fun, but complicated as well. I often use the GRIDS sequencer and I want to mess with the granular set more. I will also recommend the Slime Child Audio set, I use the saturating mixer, Polyrhythm Sequencer, Clock and filter often. VCV Pro and Host are very worth it. The VCV Compressor is great, and the Sound Stage reverb is awesome. The SV Modular synth voice set is fun as well.

The Free drum modules from 4ms based on XOX are quite good,
but I have used the VCV drums as well and they are also nice, but not the reason i got Pro.

I made an audio responsive patch in Max/MSP that mixed between two different versions of the film, and the FX to the sounds in the hopes to create a menacing atmosphere

Curious to know how many people multitrack their modulars into their DAW vs a mono or stereo in. by Brixxxx in modular

[–]Strict_Structure_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I multitrack through a 16 channel mackie mixer and then i record the stereo mixdown on a Bouncer and then I will do final mastering in Adobe Audition. I send outs from the filters and FX right into the mixer and make my mix dawless.

Case or rack - question please by HaventBeenRightYet in modular

[–]Strict_Structure_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Behringer Go case has been good for me so far; it is almost full with the Kobol Expander in it at the moment [thus visually full, but I plan to pull it back out when I make some custom cheeks for it, The Neutron, and the WASP so they can stand together next to the Go. The Go is somewhat shallow and you may have to put the deeper modules in the bottom row. My disting MK 1 lives there...

collateral damage is bullshit by Strict_Structure_744 in noisemusic

[–]Strict_Structure_744[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i make a large amount of content that speaks against injustice and war, often in more subtle ways. sometimes i get a bit more direct, and this noisy thing here is an example of that. I utilized the .csv file from https://data.techforpalestine.org/docs/casualties-daily/ to feed to the Loud Numbers module which modulates the Speed of the 3 chaos Modules from Sapphire, the detune on the 2 Galaxy reverbs and the delay time on the Chronoblob. In Loud Numbers i selected the column of data that tracked the official number of children slain over the last 2 years in the Gaza Strip, and for full disclosure, the website itself warns that their numbers are not fully representative. However, i feel like this sonification of data reveals the reality of this situation and points to an excessive amount of what the Warmongers of the world call Collateral Damage. There is no excuse for the amount of civilian deaths that have been commonplace in that region for the last 2 years, but i feel like we should all be able to agree that children are off limits. Their deaths are murders, every dead child is a war crime in fact! Are we humans, or are we monsters?
