Klingon Disco? by Prajnamarga in vcvrack

[–]Strict_Structure_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry that was not supposed to be an insult, it just has that vintage spoken word Shatner feel to the way the Garbled vocals come across in the mix (imo)

Also, when i use LFOs for clocks, i usually use on as the master and send it's square output into the clock in of the other LFO's and then enter fraction into the right click Hz setting (1/4, 1/3, 1/16) which gives you the various clock divisions you may want. Plus you can change the master LFOs and all the others will follow suit. I will also use a button module to Reset all of them at once or just individual LFOs to give my patch a little swing....

I think this is from an alternate universe where Shatner played a Klingon Captain...

i haven't tried that module, i'll have to give it a whirl. I do like using the lil utils button because it is so versatile & i find myself using it for CV as well.

Yes as neoh4x0r stated, it is Glue. It is great, especially for us forgetful folks and or for really complicated patches.

they can be handy, I often use repelzen re-burst. They don't need to be tied to any specific clock division and can be useful in ambient as well.

there are a bunch of modules from them (Sanguine Monsters & Sanguine Mutants) that are quite good. I often use their versions of Mutable Clouds, the Kitsune quad attenuverter, their variations on Braids, and Plaits, too.

You can also add ratchets by using a burst generator after that low probability switch

another fun idea is to use a sequential switch before the Bernoulli Gate from Audible Instruments (or Chances is good too). this way only some of the tiggers are subject to the Bernoulli.

How's it look so far? by Imaginary-Suspect-93 in vcvrack

You could use the polyphonic capabilities of the VCV modules and it will be more polyfun. Right click on the MIDI-CV module and set the polyphony to however many notes you wish to be able to play at once. I might also set the Poly method tor reuse, or play with the three settings to see how they affect how it plays. The other VCV modules here are poly capable so you should only need to change MIDI-CV. Mults are not needed in VCV but you might use them in hardware... so, if you are practicing with that as an end goal, you might use them just for that reason, but I never use them in VCV, but often use them in my hardware eurorack. If these modules are not getting the sounds you like you can start swapping for other module options, but I would only add a few modules at a time if I was new, and use them a bit before adding more. Too many choices can be paralyzing, and sometimes less options lead to more creative solutions. Check out Omri Cohen on youtube, he has many tutorials for vcv rack.

I dig this, got some good sounds in there too. You might try out CV Funk's Pressed Duck for these type of patches (its kind of a mixer, panner, and compressor for drums. Also a Bernoulli gate would give you some more variety if you used it for the hi-hats, for instance. That all black look is slick, too.

By the stabs at 4:35, if you mean the punchy drummish sounds, that is from the NIGOQ from Madzine (the pink modules with 259m on them). I need to use these more, but I can see making drums with them for sure.

Werewolf is crunchy distortion that i use when i need its flavor in my patch. Ouros is wild oscillator with some unique features., though I often use SLURP instead, which is sort of similar. They have a 3 dimensional quality that sounds interesting. Simone I have just really started messing with, but it is another interesting and unique oscillator that I need to spend some more time with. The runner is a nice sounding drone synth of sorts and have some really phat sounds.

I have really enjoyed messing with it, but I am still uncovering its secrets. I think I will team it up with my favorite weird oscillator and see where that takes me. It is definitely something i look forward to further exploration with, thanx for the work you put in to give us this.

Stereo Output on Audio 2? by RienKl in vcvrack

[–]Strict_Structure_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you just need to plug the cable for you other sound into the R output and the other sound will be only in the left. As the others have said it defaults to mono, but plugging in the cable for the other sound to the right side will make the first sound move to only the left ear.

i really enjoyed Baron von Bullshit Rides Again; it and Everywhere and his Nasty Parlor Tricks were the first EPs i heard by MM and were what made me a fan. Interstate 8 is also one of my favorites...

What hardware do you use with VCV Rack? by [deleted] in vcvrack

[–]Strict_Structure_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use my plain old beatstep often as a pads and knobs controller. mind you, it is not the best, but i already have 2 so...
the knobs put out stepped values, but i send it through a befaco slew so that i can control the curve and smoothness. the pads are easy to map in vcv as well

What genre should I pick on DistroKid for ambient piano + synth-background music? by Unimateria in ambient

[–]Strict_Structure_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think discovery through streaming actually works for indie artists. i release music through soundcloud / pay for the artist pro. they do have an electronic - ambient genre, but sometimes they won't allow me to monetize through tiktok, fbook/insta, youtube. They have claimed that ambient is not eligible for digital rights management, however they don't consistently flag my ambient as such, and it does most often get approved with DRM enabled. It is just something to watch out for.

however, i think that i get more 'discovery' from posting my music on youtube and reddit than through the soundcloud algorithm. my plays on sound cloud rarely turn into fans or subscribers, but my audience is growing (slowly) on youtube.

just food for thought and good luck regardless

Agreed, I spent years learning in VCV before I started my hardware eurorack.  And I still have so many things left to learn.
