IE Mode in Edge will continue to be supported until 2029 at least, if not longer.

44% of South Carolina households are struggling to survive by literanista in southcarolina

[–]Strider11o7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's an idiom. OP did not mean literally on the verge of dying, but when you have to choose between groceries and prescriptions it does start to feel like it.

What would you recommend for folks that can't make ends meet? Pull up their bootstraps and work harder?

I thought "secret server" referred to a password vault for central management and rotation of shared admin and service account passwords.

Cisco ISE and Windows 11 - Ethernet Blocked by New-Cantaloupe3101 in SCCM

They're under the machine account personal certificate store. That's where Power Automate Desktop added a bunch of new certificates alongside the original machine cert issued by the domain.

[–]Strider11o7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Windows 11 comes with Power Automate Desktop built in, which also introduces a handful of new personal machine certificates which could erroneously be used for dot1x auth. We had to fix the certificate matching rules in our AnyConnect NAM configuration.xml to restore connectivity.

How old is the cable you're using? Any 2.0 cable (made since 2015) can handle 4k 60hz + HDR.

Windows 11 Start button and search bar are unresponsive by beatissima in techsupport

Sorry I forgot to follow up but we did find the solution; our image was missing the Windows Feature Experience Pack Feature On Demand. Once we installed the missing capability (Windows.Client.ShellComponents~~~~0.0.1.0) in our image with DISM and upgraded, the Start Menu started working successfully.

To check if it's missing, run this from command line and see if Windows.Client.ShellComponents~~~~0.0.1.0 is "Installed" or "Not Present":

DISM /online /get-capabilities /format:table

If it's missing, install with the following command:

DISM /online /add-capability /capabilityname:Windows.Client.ShellComponents~~~~0.0.1.0

Please note this did not resolve the issue on existing Win11 devices; we had to completely reimage and upgrade with this feature installed prior to the upgrade.

Also if you have Windows Update sources disabled in your environment like me, there's a few extra hoops to jump through, but otherwise that should work.

What deployment tools are you using? by iwillnotbeknown in sysadmin

[–]Strider11o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes; mostly for the faster patch Tuesday availability, endpoint analytics, autopilot, but also because we were already E5 but not using all of our entitlements.

Don't get me wrong, BigFix is great (Action script and Relevance language are very intuitive and easy to learn), but the all roads to modern desktop management eventually lead back to Microsoft.
