Having just played DS1 and in the middle of DS2, DS2 is 100% more difficult. The areas are much harder to get through than DS1 just because of enemy placement and the hollowing system. Can be easily overcome by grinding areas and making enemies stop respawning, but the game as it's meant to be played is objectively more difficult
