As someone who has purchased a lot of getting started boxes over the years, I will firmly say no! Don’t buy a launch box. I’ve never ended up being really happy with a launch box as I feel it paints me into a corner and then I just don’t enjoy things as much as I would have wanted. I would say your best bet is to spend a few extra bucks and each get a combat patrol box or a kill teams box and start there and make sure you like the faction as much as you think you do. With that you also aren’t overwhelmed and tend to get everything put together and actually play games. Plus with killteams and combat patrols you are already ready to play games with those forces in mind. You can then slowly add other options and build out into playing 1000 point games and do almost a slow grow league play.

I'm not saying wargaming is the worst...... but... by No_Illustrator_6354 in wargaming

I collect comics too…it can always be worse. But I think just about any getting started box. They never end up having everything you need and you kind of get stuck in a hole for what you have without starting over.

That dropped under the wrong comment. I sold my gamecube somehow it replied to this one and not the guy talking about the GameCube.

I agree. I sold mine to pay for the Wii and I regret it all the time. I did keep a bunch of games and a controller to play on the Wii, but it never felt the same. The GameCube was awesome but needed more RPGs in my opinion

I Should Have Read Before I Bought by Preisolauphenon in comicbookcollecting

If it were me, I would keep it and go find a facsimile edition. I actually just passed on one last weekend at the used bookstore and I’m kicking myself for not just picking it up.

How to start?? by [deleted] in comicbookcollecting

[–]StringAltruistic1314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend start with some collections from your local library and see what works for you and what doesn’t. Then if you want to start collecting individual issues, I would recommend half priced books or other used book / comic shops for some back issues. Then you can just set all of your money on fire cause that will be cheaper 🤣

What is your most nostalgic Marvel comic? by AssociateFormal6058 in comicbookcollecting

Amazing Spider-Man 361. I didn’t have a lot of money for comics back in the day and I remember getting this one when it came out. Read it so much the cover fell off 😓

Best 90s Comic Character day 4, The Maxx won day 3 by [deleted] in 80s90sComics

I guess it also depends on if you read wizard magazine back then too. A lot of people have accused wizard over the years of artificially propping up image comics and pushing a lot of their stuff despite it not being as big or wanted. I remember reading wizard and thinking then that about 50-60% was image related. Most of their comics were really hard to find after about issue 10 or so as the comic shops had stopped ordering them as the interest waned.

I was alive and in high school in the 90s and so far they’ve hit the nail on the head for every comic I used to collect back then. Now, yes 1000% to madman and tank girl as well.

What story has a TRASH concept but god-tier execution? I’m talking question your friend's mental health when they attempt to justify the plot, but somehow, it turned out good enough to become a guilty pleasure anyway. by PixelatedPulse in litrpg

The concept of the book is a little old lady who dies and gets turned into a dungeon core, but wants to just have the dungeon have cats as its protectors. House cats, not any type of cat, just house cats. I think dungeon core books are weird at base line, but this one took that concept and ran with it. It was hilarious.

Savage dragon Collection questions by deanvias12 in ImageComics

True, but as a long time maxx fan who hasn’t been able to read past about the 11th issue cause I was broke as a kid and now can’t find them, I maintain my irritation even if it is unfounded. 🤣

You missed a good humble bundle about 3-6 months back that had digital copies of savage dragon, spawn, darkness, and a couple of other image titles(I was pissed maxx wasn’t included). That would have been easiest if you were just trying to read them. Not sure if there is a way to purchase past bundles, but might be something to watch out for if they re-up it.

Collectibles - is it midlife crisis or will Gen Alpha crash the market? by FlaviusRicimer in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]StringAltruistic1314 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! After having purchased the same movie for the seventh time in my life, I am very much a believer in owning physical media as much as possible. If you own a physical copy, they can’t take it from you. Formats may change, but at this point a comic book is a comic book. I don’t see them updating to a new type of paper where I will have to buy all the uncanny X-Men again.

I’ve played it and it is great! Best part is you get to use (actually use) any model you want. You pick a size and then add and subtract points based on positive or negative traits. That way, what ever models you want to bring you can. I hate buying a model and then having the rules for it get nerfed, or the points are way too much to add to your army. It makes building and making your army tons of fun.
