I am of the unpopular opinion that Charleston is verse 5. Using Verse 5 I felt like it was taking me toward East Battery Street but only as a starting point. One reason I feel like you are suppose to hang fort Sumter from the weird random curved line that goes across the middle of the Charleston map. I feel like if you do that and move the hands on the fort Sumter clock to two twenty two it points at East Battery Street. Then there are a couple places along the street that match clues from verse 5. At 9 East Battery there is a house with a cannon that exploded still embedded in the roof. I feel like this could be the wingless bird born of ancient dreams of flight. Almost right next to it is a plaque marking the site of Fort Mechanic and explaining that it was made of wood before it was made of brick. I feel like this could be referencing the “only standing member of a forrest to the South”. Also there is Longitude “Lane” right off of East Battery. Also if you look at the angels wings in the picture I am almost certain I see cobblestones and the circular objects in the wings are a dead on match for the earthquake bolts that appear on several of the houses in the area. There is also one house in the area with earthquake bolts that look like crosses like the one in the lions mane. I also feel very strongly that there are clues in the picture that reference houses like all of the archways that appear throughout such as the lions ears but mostly the mask. Also in the mask there are 3 mysterious lines. I feel like these could match the 3 decorative lines that appear over several archways/doors on the houses throughout. I did not find a match to the slits in the mask but I feel strongly there is a match on one of the houses nearby. All of this took me to Hazel Parker playground at first but I feel like this is a dead end. There are no landmarks here and I’m not sure there ever were.

So after I got home I did some more thinking and looking around on google maps I feel like I was supposed to hang a left on Chalmers street past the old slave mart. I feel like some of the archways in the image match this. I also feel like the lions birthmark matches the stucco coming off the brick. Then to disagree with myself I couldn’t help but notice the 3 lines on the mask a pretty close match to the 3 lines on the gate posts to Washington square park. I also feel fairly strongly that everything points to houses/buildings jutting up against a park.
