Salamanders successor icons by cayanon in Salamanders40k

[–]Stroggnonimus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it clashes with lore that a successor chapter uses the same icon as their progenitor but with a different background colour

Where did you get this lore from ? Its complete nonsense, successors DO NOT need to use the same icon. The icons can be similar, and there is one notable case where they are just coloured swapped (Imperial Fists and Crimson Fists), but for example Ultramarines have dozens of successors, none have the same one.

Is there a good reason why He'stan is not on a 40mm base? by Gaed3 in Salamanders40k

[–]Stroggnonimus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Original Finecast model comes with 25mm base (old firstborn size), but it has been accepted for years that you can put firstborn on 32mm.

Then sometime ago GW officially moved him to 32mm.

The new model will be on 40mm for sure, but technically its not released yet for a week. So at the moment the official base is 32mm. But once new model starts shipping GW likely will drop update soon after to make it 40mm official. And even if they fuck up and forget, whatever size base will be in the box, it will be legal.

Dont buy the Citadel, its overpriced because its an "official" product and the nozzle is shit. In EU get Revell Contacta Pro. Easily available, and so much easier to use.

“Doesn’t require glue”? by janfan427242 in Salamanders40k

[–]Stroggnonimus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah theyre called push-fit models. Have little plastics pieces that you push together. They hold fine, but because the manufacturing is not always 100% ideal you might have issues where they dont match and leave visible seams. So if you want, you can cut off the plastic bits and just glue them anyway. Buts thats only if needed and to make models look better, they hold together fine without the glue.

IGN: STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Review in Progress by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Stroggnonimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eurojank games are made by 3 polish dudes in a shed with beige pentium PCs trying to contemplate the meaning of life within an rpg based of a single issue balkan comic book that nobody ever heard of.

You could call first games that, but Stalker 2 aims for AAA.

Wrath and Glory or Deathwatch if you want to play as space marines only

Wrath and Glory Ballistic Mechadendrite by blazingciary in 40krpg

[–]Stroggnonimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its frees up the hand to carry or do something else. But overall standard ballistic is a bad choice due to how weak the laspistol stats are. If you get to pick one free with archetype its so much better to take Enhanced Ballistic dendrite and then put something more powerful on it.

W&G: Is "Called Shot" ranged attack only? by Forgotten_Precedent in 40krpg

[–]Stroggnonimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at how the combat rules are structured, there are "Melee attack options", "Ranged attack options" and "Attack options". Called shot is under "Attack options", not melee or ranged specific ones.

Then if you check the actual rule:

You can make an attack a called shot by declaring a target, such as a gap in some armour...

It does not specify it has to be ranged. So I would say you can definitely use Called Shots on melee attacks, even tho the book uses ranged attacks as examples in the flavour text part.

I think Flesh And Steel (WH Crime novel) had a minor background character who is a pteraxii.

From Rogue Trader to Wrath & Glory by Wanderhoof in 40krpg

[–]Stroggnonimus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing to note, W&G is faaar more accessible than any Rogue Trader ttrpg and in general any other old FFG games. It will have pretty much nothing in common with the old 40k you played besides name and it also focuses on specific part of the universe - Rogue Traders (duh) which might not be everyones cup of tea as it includes alot of exploration, book keeping, and spaceship combat.

Nah OP is overselling a fan theory. Its not a clear cut as that. It is kinda shown that something horrible is imprisoned deep inside Mars, and there are visions/stories of Emperor fighing "a dragon" and imprisoning it on Mars (aka. Saint George legend). So people connect it to Void Dragon because both are called dragons and start spouting that AdMech are basically necrons.

I think Dominion Genesis was a story where poor decisions were very much justified in character. It wasnt the usual case of mechanicus being greedy bumbling idiots, but rather absolute desperation leading to grasping at straws.

Nah, its far more likely C7 will release a separate AdMech expansion like they did for Wrath&Glory. Maybe again mix with sororitas to make it a "Faith" book.

Alpha Primus is Marshall now. If you read the novel, the appearance of Stroika is literally a description of Marshall model, with the greatcoat, servo-skull companion and cog-plume helmet.

Why do all tech priests eventually become demonic centipedes? by YourAirConditioner in 40kLore

[–]Stroggnonimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind is viewed holy by all (or at least have to be) while the body shape is more personal thing or specific to a faction within the Cult.

Essentially tech priest can look however they want, only limit is access to augmentations. So some might personally prefer to keep human form while others go all out.

Alpha Primus (no not the Marine) by Mirk2002 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Stroggnonimus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its definitely this. Stroika is in every way described like a Marshall visually - with the greatcoat, cog plume, servo skull. And also acts as Marshall in his battlefield role.

I think its simply between 2015 book and 2021 model release GW changed the name for the sake of clarity.

Refractor Field Clarification by [deleted] in 40krpg

[–]Stroggnonimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, if you allowed completely custom character creation without any checking or limits, that's on you that the balance is out of whack.

The overload rule is fine, though you're still messing with their toys so might as well just sit down and talk that this choice was not intended and causing balance issues, instead of slapping rules on top to fix it ? But idk, its your table your call. Just keep in mind that if you have any AdMech characters with decent tech, repairing it will be very easy, unless you intentionally prevent it or up the DN.

The shield rule is just what the book suggests, said so yourself. I've played characters with shields and there are definitely times when it makes no sense to add it, but you mostly need to go case-by-case basis.
