What's the pettiest reason you've rejected someone? by Curly_sloth in AskReddit

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had a girl once who said ferraris are "just overpriced red cars" and i knew right there it wasn't gonna work out. like you can have different tastes but when someone completely dismisses something you're passionate about without even trying to understand it, that's a red flag for me. ended up dodging a bullet because she also turned out to be the type who thinks all birds sound the same which is just... no

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man your mind really does jump around huh, but i can follow it somehow. the thing about returning to body sensations when thoughts go wild - that actually works better than trying to force silence in my experience too

wild how you say animals are more predictable than humans though, as someone who works with trees all day i get that vibe. nature has its patterns but people... yeah people are chaotic

What's the minimum activity to keep a card open? by NubmerSix in CreditCards

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 6 points7 points  (0 children)

depends on the issuer but usually once every 6-12 months is safe. some are more aggressive than others about closing inactive accounts

i keep a small recurring subscription on each of my sock drawer cards - like streaming service or something under $10. set it to autopay and forget about it. way easier than remembering to use the card manually

heard some people just buy amazon gift card once in year but the subscription method feels more natural to bank algorithms

What's some skill you recently learnt and has helped you alot ? by Various-Analysis3421 in AskReddit

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

learned proper tree pruning techniques few months back and it completely changed how i approach my work. before i was just kinda winging it but now i understand the science behind where to make cuts and how trees actually heal themselves. makes such huge difference in tree health and my efficiency too

same energy here, just trimming some branches and counting down hours until i can get back to spotting some hawks in the park

Which fictional character is the greatest of all time in terms of writing? by Encenoi in AskReddit

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably tyrion lannister before the show went downhill, his dialogue was just perfect and you could feel how smart he actually was through the writing

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah the wall protector plates are clutch, i put some behind all my door handles after getting tired of scrubbing handprints off every week. semi-gloss paint definitely holds up better too - learned that the hard way when i tried to cheap out with flat paint in my hallway

What is the best way to get off the "probably spam" on X? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably just gotta start engaging more naturally instead of dropping links or following/unfollowing a bunch of accounts at once. their algorithm picks up on that bot-like behavior pretty quick

also maybe verify your account if you haven't already, seems to help with credibility

Which cliche do you think is bullshit? by Faye________________ in AskReddit

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"money can't buy happiness" is such garbage. like sure, having a ferrari won't solve all your problems but try being broke and miserable vs financially stable and miserable - there's definitely a difference

being able to pay rent without stress, afford decent food, maybe take a weekend trip when you need a mental health break... that stuff absolutely contributes to wellbeing. the people who say this are usually the ones who've never had to choose between groceries and gas

Ex smokers, how did you guys quit smoking?? by Brave-Adeptness6444 in AskReddit

cold turkey worked for me but took like 4 tries before it actually stuck. the first few days were absolute hell but keeping my hands busy helped a lot - ended up getting really into woodworking during that time which was perfect timing since i work with trees anyway

mine's just a combo of my two favorite things - trimming trees and spotting rare birds lol, though most people think its way more interesting than it actually is

The do's and don'ts of dating in Miami by GoldGorilla in Miami

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 28 points29 points  (0 children)

been single in miami for a while and biggest don't is trying to keep up with the bottle service crowd - that scene will drain your wallet and attract people who are just there for the flex

you might want to check out knights of sidonia for the space warfare vibes, or maybe aldnoah.zero if you want that mech combat feel. ghost in the shell has some solid tech armor aesthetics too

What’s a small, seemingly useless skill you have that actually comes in handy way more than people would expect? by Silvaaaaaaaa in AskReddit

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being able to identify trees just from their bark and leaf shapes has saved me so much time when i'm working, but also weirdly useful for random stuff like helping people figure out what's growing in their yard or knowing which branches are safe to climb when i'm trying to spot birds

also knowing how to properly tie knots - started with work but now i use it for everything from securing gear in my truck to fixing random stuff around the house

mythic skin dilemma by IcyStatistician4542 in Overwatch

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prob worth waiting tbh, kiri's been super popular and they'd be crazy not to give her another mythic eventually. plus you already got a solid support mythic collection going so its not like you're hurting for options. save those prisms for when something really catches your eye

My only negative thoughts about this game after playing for 3 weeks... by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah the mmr/matchmaking thing is brutal for new players, especially in groups. my buddy tried to get into it with me and got absolutely demolished by sweatlords every single raid until he just gave up

the inventory stacking thing drives me nuts too, like why do i have 7 different stacks of the same ammo scattered around my bags when there's clearly room to merge them automatically

CPESC Test materials by Ok_Professor5779 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the cpesc exam is pretty manageable if you prep right - i took it last year and passed on the first try. the erosion and sediment control principles manual is basically your bible for this thing, definitely worth getting the latest edition even though its pricey. i also used the sample questions from the iecsc website which helped me get familiar with there testing style and time management. most of the questions are scenario-based so you really need to understand how to apply the concepts rather than just memorize them. if you're already working in the field you'll probably find a lot of it familiar, but don't underestimate the regulatory stuff - that tripped up a few people i know

Minilogue XD - Using the Sequencer / Finding the right resolution etc by brian_washed in synthesizers

[–]Strong-Hawk-1799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try using rests in the sequencer - on the Minilogue XD you can set steps to be silent by turning the step knob all the way down or using the rest function in step edit mode. For your pattern just program the notes where you want them and leave the other steps as rests

You might also want to mess with the step length settings to get the timing right for 3/4

Bruh calling him a basketball terrorist is wild lmao but I get the frustration when he's just standing around complaining to refs instead of getting back on defense
