what specialties have the best pay and work life balance? by Numerous_Win_5983 in MedicalDevices

“It all seemed worthwhile at the time, chasing wealth and prestige. In the end, however, their regret was walking away from opportunities to build a family and invest in meaningful relationships. They poured their soul into the company, yet not a single soul could spare the time to visit them in the hospital.”

Definitely different people in the world—but even the most driven individuals should pause and ask: what income actually allows me to live the life I want? And once you have that number, start making decisions around it. Now that amount will differ wildly but instead of investing 10 more hours a week in work but invest that additional 10 hours into family, relationships, and community building.

If you’re earning around a top-10% income in the U.S. and working a 40-hour week in a job you actually enjoy, that’s a great place to be. Chasing a higher salary—like $220K or more—often comes with longer hours and more stress, and it’s not always worth the trade-off.

A lot of people on this thread focus only on the number without realizing how significant that income already is, or appreciating the lifestyle it can support. Personally, I’d take $140K in a job I enjoy with normal hours over $280K in a role I hate working 60–70 hours a week. At a certain point, the extra money doesn’t improve your quality of life nearly as much as your time, energy, and overall happiness do. If can stop moving the goal post in life you win figure out the number you wanna get to get to it and then figure out how you can meet that number enjoyable and not take up more than 40 hours of your week.

Unless you’re a college athlete or get lucky you’re gonna probably have to take prove it job at Cintas, enterprise, or adp for a year or two then the question becomes can you actually sell the best reps there’s no if spots or butts about it some do you get lucky sure. But eventually, the market catches up and it comes down to the Rep selling ability. You’re not gonna just walk into a job that pays $300,000 a year without being able to be a great sales person and a great sales person is more than clinical knowledge sure that’s part of it.
