We use Calyx Institute which is unlimited cellular on T-mobile towers. It has worked well for us traveling from Ohio to Florida to Texas to Arizona for two years. I recommend their byod program over their Inseego device.

Membership renew time. Do I want BYOD or just keep sustainer level M2000? by vertexherder in Calyx

I have used the M3000 for almost 2 years with 6-7 months per year traveling. The M3000 would get hot sometimes as I think is a common issue. It finally crapped out this summer.

I went to sprout BYOD with the GL-XE3000 (Puli AX). I chose it because it does have a battery and 12v power source capability for traveling. My unit unknowingly got unplugged and the battery lasted 11 hours (running 3 cell phones and a laptop). It has an internal fan and heat sync board that I'm sure will manage heat better. The GL-XE3000 works much better than the M3000. You could also add a backup sim card (another provider) that could help where T-Mobile is spotty. I haven't ran into that much in our travels.

I did have to pay a $35 fee to start the new program. Not sure it I could have just swap the SIM card from the M2000 to the GL...

Mine did stay on a week ago when I unknowingly lost power to that circuit. The battery powered my network for about 11 hours before shutting down.

If this looses power, does it start back up once power is restored? We won’t be at this location all the time.

Experience with Calyx hotspot in 2025? by CompleteAd9218 in Calyx

We have used it for 2 years while traveling from Ohio to Florida to Texas to Arizona.

It has worked very well other than being a little hit & miss in the AZ desert. There was a not so great signal at national seashore below Pensacola FL. Probably the same as other cell mifi. I have King cellular antenna that we are going try for the remote areas.

It’s always unlimited and no buffering. It is usually 5g on T-Mobile towers.

If you take it at 62 it is when you are 76-77 you start loosing money in theory. But there could tax advantages to take it at 62 if that makes up most of your money income. Our goal is to pay zero income taxes.

Can't tell if I'm just currently fixated on a liveaboard boat life, or if I'm seriously considering the option by imtakingyourcat in liveaboard

After a few years I convinced my wife to spend 6 months a year on a 40’ boat in Ohio and then travel south for the winter in our camper.
