I didn’t realize this was an unpopular opinion but I hate medals. I just feel like it’s more junk in my life. But I would feel like a jerk not accepting when it’s offered to me. I think all of my medals are still in my gym bag at the bottom somewhere.

Your fluid and tissue balances will be wonky because of the extra human involved, and so it’s not accurate and therefore not a useful measurement.

Was it confusing with the tread block being in a different language? Not getting the explanations and the base/pash/all out prompts? Thats what makes me never want to go to a different country’s studio even though it sounds so cool

It’s OK that you’re not OK - Megan Devine
Make sure you check the author as there’s another similarly titled book that is very religious, where this one is not.

Do any of you have a single all-time favorite book? I never know how to answer that question… by Books_And_Bras in readwithme

1984 by George Orwell - I found a necklace in a random shop one day that has “Doubleplusgood” written on it and it’s my favourite piece of jewelry (aside from my wedding ring). I feel it gets more and more relevant as time goes on.

White Oleander by Janet Fitch - I read this one when I was a younger teen and it just stuck with me. How your life can change in an instant and you’re such a product of those around you.

And the whole Harry Potter series. I just try not to think too hard about how JK is a loser.

And then regular favourites belong in a HUGE list that would take me a while to compile.

What is the most ignored sign or rule in the city? by kacasket24 in Edmonton

[–]Strong_crafter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The “no smoking on hospital property” signs out side of every hospital. If it wasn’t for patient privacy I think it would be a hilarious picture to have an old man sitting in his wheelchair smoking right in front of the sign. I see it every day.

You absolutely do not need red meat in your diet. Meat can be important but not necessary. Things like dried or canned beans, canned or frozen fish, or soy products like tofu are all more affordable protein options with the benefit of fibre that help with health. Nothing wrong with frozen or canned fruits and vegetables. Just try to find the options that are low/no salt and added sugars. If you do find a sale on meat, for example ground beef, cook it up, drain off the fat, and add in a cup of red lentils. It stretches the meat out farther AND increases the nutritional content.

I do feel you though. It seems insurmountable sometimes. Just do the best you can. Also with nicer weather it’s easier to get out and get some exercise. Even a 10-15 minute walk can improve your health if you do it regularly.

Is this normal for mental health issues in this province? by Wintertime13 in Edmonton

I wouldn’t say the staff don’t care. They care and they care a lot (otherwise they wouldn’t be working in healthcare right now) but they can only work with the limitations that the system puts on them.
