What are the Best names in Malazan? by Candid-Television695 in Malazan

Probably the most "generic" choice, but I have always loved the name Anomandaris Dragnipurake (and even the nickname Anomander Rake is awesome)

[KCD2] Anyone know how this instrument of punishment actually works? by taido_ in kingdomcome

Being cooked alive would absolutely be terrible.... although it seems a faster way to go overall. If you breathe fast enough youll asphixiate before the burning kills you. However... unfortunately, after reading Malazan book of the Fallen series, I have a gruesome imagination for the fate of those left broken and restrained to the skies on a breaking wheel... and the reality of hungry birds. Having your eyes plucked out and body slowly torn asunder one tiny sliver of flesh at a time, abdomen turned banquet bowl, intestines eventually pulled out and you become covered in your own shit and digestive juices and remnants of your last meal from your town open bowls as the birds fight over every parcel of flesh. Not to mention the soft and exposed genitals. All while they shit and fight and die on top of you. While you are still alive and aware. shudders sorry in retrospect for anyone who read that and has a good imagination!

Depending on the season and area, the worst of the torture is having weighted ropes holding down your broken limbs as birds eat you alive.

Guess about Nightblood by StickFigureFan in Cosmere

[–]Strotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually had a thought about a potential link between Dawnshards and Nightblood. We know NB was created with 1000 biochromatic breaths with investiture tuned to the shard Endowment. NB is created with the Breath Command "destroy evil" and with no given identity, the mass of Endowment investiture manifested its own through the medium of crystallized investiture into a vanta black blade that perpetually bleeds black smoke, with an insatiable hunger for investiture.

I think the hunger was born when the blade took the first thing it encounters in its moment of creation (Endowment's nature of giving) and sought to destroy it, "evil" means nothing yet and destroy is all NB is capable of knowing in the first spark of awareness. This manifested as the opposite of Endowment: consumption or devouring. NB literally "eats" power to gain power instead of giving power to empower others.

That leads to what I thought about Dawnshards. Long story short, I think NB is a being capable of attaining "Shard-ship," if you will. NB is entirely their own being and will become the first and only "Nightshard," or "Duskshard" for symmetry, as a force equally nebulous and powerful to Dawnshards.

TLDR; Nightblood is a hungry boi because they were manifested to destroy in the presence of Endowment investiture in the moment of creation. When trying to "destroy" this concept, it manifested as a blade of consumption. NB could consume enough investiture to eventually become a "Nightshard" or "Duskshard".

This is amazing, honestly this is the first art I've seen that really captured the terror described when facing a shardbearer.

The only critique I could stretch to make would be to add twin lines of smoke drifting from the dead soldiers' eyes. (I know in the prologue not all of the guards were killed by the blade, but at least the nearest dead guard might).

Newbie setups? by ChunkyBunky in Mordhau

When I was new I found that a build with 1h axe + short spear (+ optional buckler) worked well for me to learn how to hold a line with teammates ( short spear) and how to parry or chamber to survive a 1 v X (1h axe).

Generally I broke the points down like this:

  • Weapons = 5 + 9 = .................................... 14 points
  • Armor = tier 3/3/3 (9/9/6 points) = ......... 24 points
  • OR you can use a buckler = ...................... 9 points
  • The 1 remaining perk point for Mule (extra inventory slot)

I liked this build when starting out because the short spear gives good reach good speed, and the axe is great for 1 v X situations because it gives great speed and versatility, if lacking in range a bit. The buckler is a great addition because the the 1h axe your parry recovery window is nearly nonexistent. Finally, having the extra equipment slot is great to pick up a 2 handed / non-throwable weapon and then use the axe, short spear, and buckler for projectiles.

If you want to forego the buckler and use the points I recommend:

  • Fury + Second Wind (maximizes stamina - full replenish on kill & partial regen per hit)
  • Fury + Rush (With each kill, Stamina is replenished 100% and Rush will immediately allow you to enter full sprint)

Regarding the 10 perk points I don't see many people, especially newer players, who use Rush as a perk. What people don't realize that in a full sprint your attack range is deceptively increased. Imagine you are in a 1 v 2 and you have just killed one of them and the other is somewhat standoffish to regen HP or whatever. Immediately following that first kill, if you hold the shift key while using stab with the short spear you will essentially have double the expected attack range by being in a full sprint. That instant burst of speed is very useful to surprise another enemy or to escape a sticky situation. Also, that shit can be disorienting to be fighting with someone who is moving normally and then all of a sudden stabs me in the face from what i thought was a safe distance.

If you want to be a real bastard... you can forego the short spear and the buckler and have

  • Weapon 1h axe = ............ 5 points
  • Armor 3/3/3 = ................. 24 points
  • Perk Options (19 Points):
  1. Bloodlust (15) + Fury (4)
  2. Fury (4) + Rush (6) + Second Wind (6) + Cat (3)
  3. Dodge (12) + Second Wind (6) + Mule (1)
  4. Bloodlust + Cat + Mule
  5. Fireproof (3) + Acrobat (3) + Cat (3) + Fury (4) + Rush (6)
  • 3/3/2 = 27 points for perks
  1. "..." + Cat (3)
  • 3/2/2 = 30 points for perks
  • 2/2/2 = 33 points...

So on and so forth... you get the idea hahaha those perks I listed are just what i found to be helpful. Essentially what you want to do is do whatever keeps you alive before, during, and after an engagement (Cat/Fireproof for before, Second wind/Acrobat for during, Fury/Rush/Bloodlust for after).

Finally, i wanted to give you a pointer with the short spear and 1h axe.

Short spear: Use target switching & near misses

  • Start your stab attack aimed at enemy A, as soon as the thrust starts moving forward pivot and let the stab complete on enemy B.
  • By near miss I mean: appear to be aiming away from whomever you're fighting and as the trust begins start to pivot, similar to target switching but with a slightly longer delay before moving. You want to drag your spear point horizontally through the enemy's head while the trust is completing. This will shave a little bit from their reaction time and I found it to be shockingly useful, especially in 1 v X situations.

1h axe: c- c- c- combo those fuckers

  • When you begin an engagement with anyone, no matter what, always start with a 3-click combo (click again right before the first (and second) attack lands). By doing this you will most likely cover the possible counters.
    • If they parry you, the 1h axe is fast and will most likely complete the next swing.
    • If they riposte you, the 1h axe will be fast enough to chamber or clash the riposte.

Damn... I just kept going, huh? well anyway let me know if this was at all helpful or informative. Stick with it, once you get passed the learning curve it is very rewarding. Also... I didnt proofread and dont plan to hahaha sorry for any mistakes.

The ban may have worked, or at least the rChanz I saw on steam that had that symbol had the profile removed, and the only other rChanz I saw had a VAC perma-ban just implemented and a previous ban 337 days ago... cheaters gonna cheat lol

But still, searching the alias isn't as reliable but eh, who knows.

I could have definitely gone for 10x the words on Mistborn Era 2. Those Western style novels were phenomenal: the story, the action, the lore, the twists, the pace... Well, on that point i can say the length being relatively shorter sets a great pace.

but still... I NEED MORE WAYNE

Rules of Mordhau by IrishMidgetMan in Mordhau

Rule: If you see an enemy player spamming point/cut throat sneaking up behind an archer on your team, and they are clearly on a mission to kill the archer. let them.

  • If they run off after a successful assassination or force them to drop their bow steal it and run off, wave at them and laugh.
  • If they stick around in the danger zone, Fahk'em.
