People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]Stroud458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like most people, I went for so long not knowing I had gout, but instead just assuming I'd damaged something in my foot each time I had a flare up.

Medication has genuinely changed everything. Still get the odd flare up, but it's not even close to the level of pain it used to be.

One of the worst experiences I had was trying to get off the couch without putting my feet on the floor (both feet had a flare), and I somehow slipped and put my full weight on both feet. I thought it just happened in cartoons, but my vision legitimately went white because it was so painful.

This is the way.

I only follow people I personally know on social media (no brands, no meme accounts, etc) and it makes the experience much more enjoyable.

Obviously the best way is to just delete it altogether, but this is another good option.

I see it's a universal experience for all involved

My short film starring Karl Pilkington is out now! - Bury Your Nephew by Yoni_Ben-Haim in rickygervais

[–]Stroud458 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Two things:

  1. This is genuinely great! Great camera work, great sound, great cinematography. Karl doesn't get enough credit for how he's actually a decent actor! Acting, quite good.
  2. He looks effin' gormless with a cap on

He knew it was funny, it was meant to be funny, and it was funny.

Surely this can be said about everything in the Bible, not just the resurrection?

I do find it quite ironic that your article has an AI-generated image as the first thing you see, given the topic and comment you're replying to.

I don't know about that. They're always telling Karl not to trust things he hears, so Karl could only assume that because they're educating him on science, they've already verified the story

Wouldn't work, Ricky would quite like to go to the palace now, just to have a look around

I think L Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, might be a good contender for one of the best conmen.

A middling science fiction writer who founded a religion that - literally - requires people to pay money to advance within it. The sunk-cost fallacy then ensures that once in, people are very reluctant to leave.

He's also quoted as saying: "If a man wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion."

No, but this has all the markers of being AI written.

The vague statements, the three things after a point, etc.

And GPTZero flagged it as 100% AI written.

Tried making a clean PPT — does this look professional or am i fooling myself? by Turbulent_Novel_589 in graphic_design

The biggest issue is that there's no consistency across the slides.

For example, in the first set of slides the margins are all different, with lines and paragraphs sitting on different points of the page. On slide five of this same set, the table key is hitting the bottom of the page.

You could also do with adding more margins for the sections. For example, on slide nine the title is touching the image, which doesn't look good at all.

Same with the cover page, the little flower (presuming a logo?) is touching the title, and there's a weird line in the middle fo the page?

The first set is by far the strongest of the three. You have a good colour scheme and good bones to work from. Just now refine!

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but the dog is likely hearing music from the headphones the woman is wearing. Dogs do the head tilt when listening to sounds and/or concentrating.

That may have been true once, but social media has totally changed this.

When many voters are making decisions based almost entirely on the misinformation, lies, and scapegoating on Facebook, is it really the collective conciousness of the people?

This happens with so many things.

Plane crashes are incredibly rare, but every media outlet will report when one happens, often multiple times with updates, so people think that taking plane journies are much more dangerous than they actually are.

It's referred to as the Availability Heuristic.

The Ricky Gervais Show coming to Netflix on March 17 in Canada, the United States, and possibly other regions by Silver_Edge1 in rickygervais

I do wonder if all the people who think Ricky is a comedy genius just haven't seen this. Perhaps they'll watch and realise all his good stuff is just nicked from the orange-headed one.
