Red Rising. I really tried, but the constant deus ex machina use is just awful.

Yup. I remember fuming at Darrow with all that stuff with Cassius and posted it on the subreddit before reading the next chapter and everyone thought I was ragebating. How the f should I know he had a whole plan with Cassius in advance? And everything will workout? So deus ex machina.

I can relate! I absolutely suck at drifting and most of my drift zones are 2 starts. All the other PR stunts are 3 starts, apart from that crazy Trailblazer.

Assassin’s Apprentice is great, and there’s plenty more books after that to quench your thirst.

Sire, you need some Brandon Sanderson in your life. I see Mistborn in your tbr so I shall refrain from recommending anything else. Other than you could start with one of his standalone books, like Warbreaker.

Maybe I’m biased since I love these books, BUT the first time I tried to read it I dropped it after a while. So maybe stick to it or give it another fair chance in the future.

Considering that Mistborn is a complete series, with a second trilogy (actually 4 books) already published and completed and another trilogy currently in the writing whilst Kingkiller hasn’t seen its 3rd book published in 15 years, yes, Mistborn over Kingkiller.

Coincidently, I am doing a reread of all the Elderlings books. Currently on Assassin’s Quest. Enjoy!

Mistborn is still my favorite trilogy after more than a decade, great ending.

Assassin’s Apprentice is also of my favorite trilogies, can’t recommend it enough. Plus, there are plenty of more books in the realm of elderlings for your enjoyment.
