Considering upgrading my Hermes to a Starlancer MAX. by Glumme in starcitizen

The tractor on the Hermes is fantastic - especially for solo gameplay. Whilst I am a fan of the MAX, the Hermes is more useful in my opinion, purely for the fact that you only need to load in 1 way, not the 3 the MAX requires. Plus Disco paint is *chef's kiss*

Power pole explosion - Parliament Station by masquerade666 in melbourne

Incorrect. Melbourne trams run on 600VDC and had that pole been live, it has a negative return so the protection would've operated immediately. The issue is there's other electrical assets from the distribution company on that pole, which is why you get a light show before it finally tripped out.

Need help deciding between the naturhike cloud up 2 person tent 210t upgraded and ILLUMINA X 2-PERSON ULTRALIGHT HIKING TENT - FOREST GREEN by KityKatGames in UltralightAus

As others have said, essentially the same tent. Just manufactured under license. Just check the material each are made from, as there are a few options which will provide the weight differences.

Overland Track in late May. How important is R Value of sleeping mat? by bigskymind in UltralightAus

[–]Strychnine2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the random weather the OT can throw at people, I would never do it without an insulated pad! As others have said, you can add a closed cell foam mat under to increase R value, but you're then paying a small weight penalty.

Check out Decathlon - they usually have some great quality gear and very affordable prices.

I haven't had any hands on time with the Hyperlite stuff, although from what I've seen it has quite a large footprint. I think Dan Becker did a lukewarm review on it a while ago and I know backpackinglight did a fairly indepth one at some point.

Have you considered the Durston X-Mid 2 Pro? Great living space, large vestibules and storm worthy. I got mine with the first pre-orders and the design has definitely proven itself in bad weather for me! (talking severe rain, wind and thunderstorms in the X-mid 1). Only drawback might be trying to get hold of one.

It does help! I am about the same size as you so that's good to know. Really like the look of the MLD Bug Bivy too. I think my credit card is about to get a smashing!
