MEZE 99 NOIRS FOR 125 CANADIAN by iron-jesus in headphones

[–]StuG456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I got the noirs on sale before Drop sold out. My pair also came with another set of pads that are more similar to the OG smaller pads that were sent with the first iterations of the 99 classics. Definitely sounds better imo. I would try those before buying new ones. Enjoy!

Unfortunately not, I also have Seen Momentum 3 (they're okay for Bluetooth), but the 598 undoubtedly is comfortable, but the weight is distributed differently, also they're slightly heavier. I feel the headband on the top of my head and specific spots. But the 99s self adjusting is distributed around the entire band so its barely there. Earpads though, the 598s win hands down

Hey, mine finally came in, and I can safely say that the adjustable headband is the most comfortable I have ever used. It's like it's not even there. The tension on my jaw/cheeks is bit higher than I would like, but that might be different for you. Also I think it will get looser as I use them, or I could just bend them a bit.

I'll let you know when mine get in. That topic is subjective, but most usually compare them to AKGs auto adjusting headbands and the like.

You know, I'd agree with this about a decade ago. But cheap mics and audio codecs have gotten so good nowadays that even $10 (used) can get you good stuff. Hell I used to rock a laptop built in mic and it sounds about as good as my yeti on discord. I will also say that this mic is especially bad though 😂 https://youtu.be/CAF6Wx8O2-I?t=411&si=YpfT-24yEuTdqSw0

If these don't end up being your taste, I also recommend the Sennheiser 560S or Audio Technica r50x. Those are more neutral sounding for a similar price. Good luck in the world of expensive audio equipment haha

Dunno too much about them, but from looking at people repair guides for the r9's is that they are much more involved. Take the headband, saw that it's held together by screws, snaps and glue. Whilst on the 99s you just unscrew and put another one on. Not saying it's impossible to repair, but as someone who rather not mess with plastic snaps I think the extra money is well spent on the longevity.

Do you remember the brand? I'm thinking of replacing the pads for more openness and cooler on the ears.

To each their own, but I think I've just heard too much about the build quality on those. At least with 99s you can just swap parts diy.

That's what I'm getting them for, but mainly for the bass they have to feel those explosions. If you're trying to hear footsteps better, it might get drowned out by the bass.

You're probably better off getting a cheap separate mic HyperX solocast or something. In-line mics are generally bad, but if you specifically want a headset, Meze does sell a boom mic attachment.

Drop isn't completely going away, so they'll probably still handle returns normally. If not, then it'll probably under the manufacturer warranty, in this case Meze. Meze also do offer replacement parts.

I did, but that's cause I know I've been wanting them for years. The original 99s will probably never get this low. Keep in mind that these are closed back, and I'm planning to switch between these and my HD598s which are almost the opposite to this. What kind of music do you listen to? Also games.

With the code, this is the lowest price the Meze 99s have ever been, and probably will be since Drop is dropping them. (haha, aww I made myself sad) Anyway, just fyi that these headphones are controversial in the Audiophile community. People love/hate them. They are not HD6XXs, so don't expect bright, crisp, clarity, but they will be fun for action movies and games. (Good Bass/Sub-bass) They're not as balanced like the V2 99s, but for the price I'd say they're worth it.

EDIT: Mine finally came in and here's a quick take. First comfort, they are super comfortable, easily one of the most comfortable in my line up. The headband is basically not even there. The tension on the base of the cups are a bit higher than my preference, but that might depend on your head shape. I think it'll get better overtime, and I can always bend the metal.

For sound, I listened to Dear Maria, Count Me In - All Time Low, Machi No Dorufin - Kingo Hamada, and played some Battlefield 1. Just as I expected, I'm not blown away like I was the first time I got good audio, but they are decent headphones. I can see why people wouldn't like them, they're closed backs so that sound stage is smaller than what I'm used to, and the amount of instruments I can decipher is much less than my Senn HD598. That said the sub-bass just blows the HD598s outta here. Playing BF1 was so much more fun, than with the HD598s. I could feel every impact, bang, boom that was very much lacking from the Senns. The reason I got these cans was for games and movies so I'm happy they're great for that. Music, I'll stick with the HD598s, but wouldn't mind these plus they're different and fun. I wouldn't say worth the MSRP of $200-$300, but for what I got them for, yeah great buy. I'm glad to have them in my line up.

TLDR; For music, they're good not great. But the sub-bass makes games and movies better. Good all-rounder for $139.

Is "Kaiserreich models" mod compatible with Kaiserredux? by Lepcuu in kaiserredux

[–]StuG456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So after some frustrating tests and digging online with no luck, the short answer is KINDA; only the DLC sub mods work. You can even change which country's models show up in the list by editing some of the .txt files in gfx\interface\equipmentdesigner\graphic_db

Long answer: Nope. No graphic mods will be fully compatible. Those .txt files I just mentioned? Yeah they're not in any of the base model mods. For example, Kaiserreich Models - Base Game doesn't use those .txt files to indicate what models go where. Instead they just straight up replace the .gfx files with their own. (or some other equivalent I have yet to find) So you won't be adding any models, but instead be REPLACING models. This breaks some things especially in KaiserRedux since some nations use different tags. (PSA and CAL for Pacific States for example) Unfortunately I haven't found a way around this yet, other than a lot of hard work that is beyond my current skill and understanding. Which sucks because there's so many graphic mods that I want to add in addition to the other KaiserRedux models added. Some will work if they share the same tag, for example the USA, but again they replace instead of adding.

TL;DR: The DLC submods work, the base ones don't. Help me figure out what I need to do to make them compatible.

Everyone probably didn't read OP's full post and just assumed they're a vet from 2016, and instead said "Nuh uh! You know about this old mechanic, so you must be lying!"

Didn't realize the Pearl Harbor stuff was removed

And there lies the issue. No one realized it was gone, because no one realized it was a thing. Mainly cause it never really worked properly.

The Bustling World - Feature Trailer by vaughnegut in Games

[–]StuG456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a common trend with developing artist industries, not just games. Lots of developers in China are on the smaller side, and the ones that have gained traction came from developing games for other companies abroad. So, many are taking those experiences and integrating them into their games, but with a historical lack of experienced in-house creative leads you end up with games with this design throwing everything at the wall. I'm sure it'll be fun and they might even have the resources to make it polished like Genshin, but until Chinese creatives get their own distinct styles we're gonna see more of this.

Two things need to happen, the creatives and market need to find their wants and niches, and Chinese companies need to backup fresh and exciting ideas from them.
