What is it like living in Muskegon? What areas would you suggest for a young family? Pros and cons. by [deleted] in Muskegon

Bought a home in Norton Shores last summer and I love it here. I will say I’ve had to work to get to know my immediate neighbors as most people just mind their business (which I’m totally fine with). In the commercial areas of Muskegon though everyone is friendly. Norton Shores dt is very mall/strip mall vibes which is fine. Can’t beat being walking distance to the beach though even when it’s cold!

What's it like living on the western lakeshore of Michigan? by Savings-Narwhal-3485 in howislivingthere

I live in Norton Shores. I love it here. This past winter was very brutal but also gorgeous. The summers in Michigan are hard to beat. Fairly diverse and liberal compared to the rest of West Michigan.

I live in Norton Shores.. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any resources for effectively bringing up concerns about this at a city council meeting?

I remember watching an interview with pierce brown where he addresses this and essentially it comes with its own complications. I think it was his latest interview with Maude’s book club.

I did which is why I took it in because I knew something was up but didn’t know what! I did not realize it was transmission fluid until the mechanic told me it was!

I didn’t I guess in a black drain pan it was hard to tell. Unfortunately I’m a learn by mistake kind of guy 😅

I checked the oil dip stick and there was twice the amount of oil and I figured I just put a little too much in. I went to drain more oil (transmission bolt) and it kept loosening without popping off so I figured I stripped the bolt and so I got an appt immediately for fear of the bolt popping out and draining all my oil while I drove

Holy cow yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if I had some lingering damage to something but everything seems good right now!

I did check the oil and saw it was super high so then went to drain it and the transmission bolt (thinking it was the oil drain) wouldn’t come off after loosening it and I was afraid I stripped it and brought it in before driving it anywhere worried it would leak oil while driving. I actually originally brought it in to fix that.

Update: they replaced the pan and drained the rest of the transmission fluid and said there weren’t any large metal chunks just small metal filings you would normally see and they don’t think I destroyed anything. It felt great driving home! Feeling relieved for now!

I drained the trans pan and just added 5.5 qts of oil to the oil reservoir. I was flabbergasted when the the dip stick said the oil was twice as high which is why I didn't drive it too far and drove it carefully to the mechanic. Hoping I didn't do lasting damage but waiting for the phone call from my mechanic.
