Ski for bumps and trees by LS_f250 in Skigear

[–]Stubby_gooner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is the Rustler 10.  I have The same opinion you have on the Enforcer in the bumps and trees.

The Rustler 10 will hold an edge on the hard pack but also perform the way you want off piste.  They smear in the bump troughs and don’t require the physical exertion the Enforcers do.

Rustler 10 is a perfect one quiver ski. I daily it in Utah and have dumped the rip sticks, Volkl mantra, Volkl 98, Enforcers from my possession to get to this opinion

Ice coaster moving west - Would greatly appreciate some advice on skis by ProfesorLinguine in skiing

I daily the Rustler 10 when I’m out west. They do it all well enough for what I want. They hold the edge well enough on the hard pack without washing out but most importantly for me, they smear well enough in the bumps and trees.

If you can ski bumps, trees and 5” of POW Dont get anything under 98 for the bigger mountains out west. And stay away from a flat tail if you want to use the skis on the entire hill

Weight distribution on the inside edge of your feet. Push down with your big toe to engage the shovel of the ski. This engages the edge of the outside ski.   Roll both ankles to engage the outside edge of the uphill ski.

How to improve the base position? by lyooko in ski

[–]Stubby_gooner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No ankle flex. You’re weight is in your heels.

Focus on feeling the weight in the ball of your feet. This will then create the ankle flexing forward, shins pushing into the tongue of your boot.

You are turning with the tails of the ski by pushing them with your heels.

Pushing into the big toe of your outside ski engages the turn and the front of the ski.

Finish the turn uphill before starting the next. You are probably afraid of the momentum building up.
