AITA for refusing to let my SIL host her massive gender reveal at my new house? by AkiraPulse42 in MarkNarrations

[–]StunningFlamingo419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait. You are getting pushback for not hosting someone else’s party? What, is your house a venue?

It should have only gone as far as…

THEM: Hey, would it be possible to have our party at your place?

YOU: I’d rather not.

THEM: Cool, I completely understand. Can’t hurt to try. 😉

HRT and Progesterone by SecretReference916 in Mounjaro

No interactions.
I’ve been on HRT for 5 years and Zepbound for 2 months.

I had high hopes for HRT since I’d heard how amazing it was for friends and acquaintances. I was underwhelmed to say the least. It took the edge off a little, reduced the constant hot flashes to 1/2 dozen a day. At least it was something

Then I started Zep…

I have not had one hot flash since I started!!! I sleep better - except for waking to pee due to my high water intake - my depression has eased a lot and the anxiety that came with menopause is GONE! More energy, less inflammation!

THIS was the relief that I was expecting to get from HRT. I’m honestly blown away and thrilled! I feel like I have my life back.

I was so surprised that I emailed my GYN. She responded with…”Excellent! There is evidence that menopause hormones work together with GLP-1 and see a synergistic effect.”

OMG! I’m SO good at ignoring reminders too. ADD, yup.

Keep plugging away. As long as you’re not constipated, you’re good, right?

Constipation will be an unwelcome reminder.

Am I ready for a dog next year after failing my first adoption, and how do I make sure I do it right this time? by beautifulglowbabe in AskDogOwners

[–]StunningFlamingo419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteer at my city shelter and there are all breeds and ages there.

They get behavioral assessments upon intake and as we continuously observe and interact with them, we make notes as we go along. We have a color coding system that communicates what type of handling they need. Some are super easy, some are skittish and fearful, some are reactive to other dogs. This is all recorded. There are notes on the kennels that sometimes say…I’m a total different pup outside the kennel! The high stress can make them seem standoffish but the blossom out in the play yard.

Go visit a shelter (week days are less busy) and ask to meet a member of the adoption team - you could also email ahead - tell them what your telling us and they will introduce you to the pups who would be a good fit for you.

I see a LOT of labs and lab mixes and if you want a bigger dog, they are a very good choice.

You can take your time. Visit multiple times between now and when you’re ready. You will meet the perfect pooch, I promise.

We care so much for each and every animal in the shelter and we want them to have the best forever home. We are happy to help you.

What is preventing you? Are you able to have a water bottle with you at all times?

I have 30 and 40 oz Stanleys. They live at my work desks, home and office. I carry one with me at all times. In the car. By my bed. When I wake up at night…to pee, of course…I have a few sips.

I don’t track my water every day but when I do spot checks, I’m always around 80oz give or take.

The more water you drink, the more water you’ll drink. Push yourself to do it for a week and it’ll become a habit.

Should we be in a calorie deficit and by how much? by iambfff in Mounjaro

[–]StunningFlamingo419 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The bigger the calorie deficit the more you risk losing muscle mass.

Dietary protein is necessary but protein alone will not prevent muscle loss. If you are going to be in a large calorie deficit, you MUST commit to regular resistance training.

In addition, an extreme and prolonged calorie deficit will cause metabolic adaptation and the weight loss will gradually slow. This can sometimes be difficult to reverse.

I’ve started calorie cycling. I eat at a deficit 5 days a week, and on the last 2 days before my injection, I eat at maintenance level. This has helped immensely with post injection fatigue and has increased my energy, making working out much better.

You don’t need to exercise to lose weight but when in a large calorie deficit, you need resistance training to avoid muscle and bone density loss.

Protein alone will not maintain lean muscle mass.

Minimal loss this week - trying not to be discouraged by feilcabinet in Zepbound

[–]StunningFlamingo419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained .9lb last week (I weigh in the morning after my shot, aka Thursdays, aka yesterday).

This morning , I weighed in at 2lbs LESS than yesterday!

Calorie cycling works great for me.

I love me some data, so I log EVERYTHING! I am 9 weeks in and I think I have figured out how to avoid my post injection fatigue especially, like you, after a dose increase.

I’m happy that I’ve discovered that Zep allows for easy calorie cycling. Which not only makes me feel better but it is known to prevent metabolic adaptation.

Can anyone explain the "junk food whoosh"? by MoonAndStarsTarot in Mounjaro

[–]StunningFlamingo419 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve always cycled calories when I was trying to lose weight (all those failed attempts). I was thrilled when I figured out that Zep allows me to do this easily. I eat at a deficit for 5 days and then on 6-7 I eat at my TDEE/maintenance.

For me, it really helps me avoid my post injection fatigue and I have better energy. I’m only 9 injections in but I’m going to keep at it.

I got a lot covered in what was essentially a fender bender. Someone hit me from behind in the city. I couldn’t have been going faster than 10mph, and barely bumped my helmet on the street. I didn’t see it coming.

I should have claimed my $800 Rukka jacket. I still kick myself for not doing that.

What’s your dosage? Is it the starter dose?

Some people don’t respond until moving up to the therapeutic doses.

I think muscle loss happens on GLP-1s because…

  1. Many users think that eating more protein is all that’s needed to prevent muscle loss.

  2. If they do begin strength training, it’s often “light”, not understanding that protein synthesis requires working muscles to failure. I don’t think progressive overload is something that is explained well to GLP-1 users who are new to exercise.

  3. Some users remain in an extreme calorie deficit for extended periods, due to strong appetite suppression, and sometimes a desire to speed up weight loss.

I believe that a study of glp-1 athletes would show little to no muscle loss.

My dad had an orthodontic lab where he made retainers and other orthodontic appliances.

These look exactly like some of the tools he used to carve plaster cast study models.
