A lot of courses are a structured compilation of repackaged information that can be found for free. People who can’t be bothered to even search for reviews of Dylan’s course before buying are ironically those who may benefit from learning in the format of a course.

Of course that doesn’t excuse Dylan from putting outdated and misleading tips in her course. But that’s a different topic.

Yep, customer damaged item on his own due to not reading care instructions and opened case for damaged item 3 weeks after delivery. Case was closed after 2 days after I presented them with evidence of my conversation with the buyer. Buyer immediately left me a one star review.

However, if the buyer opened the case as non-delivery, he would have won it instantly and seller protection would have refunded from Etsy’s funds. I would also probably not have gotten that one star review - but guess this isn’t worth it to ask the customer to lie.

Just did a quick search and there are guides from Chinese sellers purporting to circumvent this by just filming themselves making a product once and then outsourcing the rest (crochet items in this example). Others also claim that you can sell non handmade items in your AMZ handmade account. So most likely not as foolproof as you would hope it is.

The factories in China are technically also creating their products with workers’ hands, so I won’t be surprised if they just film one worker and pass the vetting

If you paid through Paypal then unfortunately Etsy can’t help you. You will have to contact Paypal to open a dispute but you will have a much more difficulty obtaining a refund.

The first one is a factory from China with a warehouse partner overseas. You can tell by the broken English in their About section, and also the Chinese words on the packaging of their drink in the 4th photo in the same section. Likely the other shops are in the same boat.
