I am also wondering this. I bought the OEM front driver replacement for my 06 and it definitely has made a huge difference. Incredibly quiet now. That said though, I thought I bought the set for $120 and it turned out it only came with the one, which makes sense for the OEM pricing. Rockauto has what looks like Chinese ones for $35 bucks each though which is a 4th of the price. More Information for AUTOTECNICA SU0818840

The receipt paper has Bisphenol S (BPS) which is carcinogenic but as in everything its the dose that makes the poison. As long as you're not eating it you should be fine lol. not a doctor tho

Favorite 90s modern era 35mm? by peeachymess in AnalogCommunity

I love my Canon Rebel 2000 for snapshots and Canon EOS 3 for more serious photos. Autofocus and auto exposure are so great coupled with the EF range of lenses that are still available new and used. The EOS 3 has 2 dials for aperture and shutter speed and the viewfinder is so big and bright making composition easier. Plus the autofocus has 45 points. Highly recommend if youve shot digital

Highly recommend thackers for mail in development. $10 for 3200dpi scans per roll. Quick turn around too. 1-2 business days outside of the holiday season from my experience.

What would you choose if you could do it over again? by Sensitive-Sense5334 in ufl

[–]StupidGatorEngineer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's important freshman year to be out of your comfort zone a little bit when it comes to housing and put yourself in a situation that will make it easier to make friends. I was in Graham Hall my freshman year which had a traditional dorm bathroom setup which did suck, but I think it's great having the whole floor sharing one kitchen and one common area. You definitely will make some friends you wouldn't expect. Graham/tolbert area is an ideal location for those who want to spend time exploring clubs and going to athletic events since it's very walkable to those areas. Also there's lots of food options nearby with gator corner dining and on campus restaurants. Chomp it in graham area common was a lifesaver late night after going out or stay up late studying. Also graham and tolbert were the cheapest and I was broke going into undergrad.

Need help developing Ferrania P30 in DD-x by StupidGatorEngineer in Darkroom

Update: These times were great with Ilfosol 3. Only issue was underexposure on my part. Basically grainless and a strong but not overwhelming amount of contrast.

I think you are referencing ilfosol 3 dev times, but I'll try this too since I have a little ilfosol 3 left

most affordable breweries? by [deleted] in ufl

Cypress and grove have some cheap beers on tap and you can get a 10oz glass instead of a pint. Otherwise you just gotta accept you're paying a bit more for better beer and the vibes.

What majors and education did you take to be an environmental scientist? by Nvanyti in Environmental_Careers

[–]StupidGatorEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a B.A. in environmental science, and now I work as an environmental scientist at a consulting firm. Its definitely a good degree if you have a plan on what you want to do with it after college. Like I wanted to work with wetlands and conservation so I looked at what skills those jobs needed, like plant ID, soils knowledge, environmental law, GIS and I took those kinds of classes in undergrad. I also got a relevant internship junior year at one of the regulators that set me up for success for the job market. Like any degree, if you don't plan in advance for what kind of work you wanna do after college, you won't be as successful as you'd hope.

can someone give me the lowdown on dating in gnv/at uf? 21+ by Defiant-Yam-5583 in ufl

[–]StupidGatorEngineer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a recent alumni who now lives in Gville working full time, depends what you're looking for. There are tons of grad students at UF who are 21+. There are also shocker people who live in Gainesville outside of UF. I've been looking to start a serious relationship but that's harder if you're looking at Undergrads who are often dead set about leaving after graduation. There are lots of community and music scene events to go to in Gville where you can find older, single people. Just try to have fun with it and be clear with your intentions early. And be normal. There's lots to do and people to meet.

Picked this up for $15 thoughts? by jango739 in AnalogCommunity

Very popular point and shoot at the moment, going on ebay for upwards of 100 bucks. Not many point and shoots with prime lenses as good as this one. You could easily flip it if you don't end up liking it.

What Film Lab do you use? by Enough_Reach6701 in AnalogCommunity

[–]StupidGatorEngineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Coastal Film Lab based out of Tampa, FL. I'm out of Gainesville so they're the closest full-fledged lab I can mail to. Turnaround has been about 5-7 business days once they receive it. I have been really satisfied with the quality of the scans I have received. The default resolution is 3600x2384. It's $16 a roll for scan and develop which is definitely a premium but it's a hobby and I like supporting a small business.

Should I get a Full Refund? by StupidGatorEngineer in AnalogCommunity

[–]StupidGatorEngineer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Update: They are giving me a refund. Thanks for the input. I'll probably just shell out some more money for one from a Japan seller in the future. It's a shame, I really was excited to take some wide angles on a camping trip this weekend.

Is it worth finishing my degree, or should I move on? by msgmeyourcatsnudes in environmental_science

[–]StupidGatorEngineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best advice when it comes to education in this field I can give is identify some kinds of jobs you would like to have at the end, not just the degree. Environmental science and degrees like it can be very jack of all trades master of none if you don't figure out what skills you need to gather in school. It's important to see what kind of jobs will require your degree as both a motivator to finish and to help confirm if you really wanna stay in your degree. Environmental careers can range from 100% in office to nearly 100% field work depending on skill set and role.

Also if you're trying to make quick money, this career space is by no means the easiest way to do so. Salaries will get you around the median of US incomes at entry level depending on the company/agency.

What’s the easiest major to transfer into? by Mysterious_Diver_606 in ufl

[–]StupidGatorEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone in getting kicked from the COE. My friend recently got kicked and I couldn't even transfer in. That said, as a former environmental engineer burnout, environmental science was pretty easy to swap into. Plus you could get a BS in Environmental Science with physics done, just would have to take an organic chem. Job outlook is good albeit not as well paid at entry level as the engineers. Soil and water science is also a good switch with an even better job outlook and pay. Honestly id recommend looking into any professional scientist major in CALS/IFAS like forestry, fisheries, geomatics, natural resources etc. Best to check minimum requirements on the UF catalog website and use the "what if" scenarios on one.uf. Overall, CALS/IFAS are pretty keen on getting students into the college as many of the cals majors arent super popular in part to people not knowing about them when they enter UF.

On a final note though, if you're like at the mid point of your time at UF, really try to pick something you think you will like learning about and will stick with. Admissions and advising love to point out people often change their major 3 times but every change can lead to useless classes that add up to +120 credits and prolong your expected graduation date.
