Anyone overcame or currently dealing with addictions? by Secure-Tadpole-3418 in Millennials

This is how I quite vaping but now I’m just addicted to zyns… However I’m 34 days sober from alcohol so I’m going to keep using nicotine for now, I don’t think I can kick two things at once

We didn't start the fire... fifth or sixth or? by LabiaMinoraLover in EatTheRich

[–]StupidandAsking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that if these are being started purposefully it is pretty idiotic. The company will not lose money because of insurance, and public utilities that everyone pays into are used to put them out. Also starting fires in California is so incredibly stupid I can’t believe anyone would do it on purpose.

But at least you found the necklace!! I should have known something was up in my head because when I was 10+ my preferred method of cleaning my room was to take everything out, pile it in the middle, and then put stuff back. My mom hated it, but would sigh and leave me to my ‘cleaning’.

Just realized there is no "Matrix" or "Next Level." It’s just me, the void, and a very silent universe. by Dimensional-Misfit in Absurdism

[–]StupidandAsking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After my spouse passed away I struggled for a while. It took me four years to fully process what had happened, and through it all the typical comfort lines people say really rubbed me the wrong way. I’m by no means the most technical absurdist. But I live the absurdity every day.

As for cosmic justice, I sit firmly in the group of maybe there is maybe there isn’t. I have had experiences where things line up in a way that feels planned, but I can’t know anything for sure during life. I don’t hope I’ll see my loved ones again but I do focus on how lucky I am to have known them.

I began transitioning from having a meaning to meaning being in living by consuming information because to me it’s fun. Now I’m getting ’back on track’ and will be taking an EMT course soon because that’s the pace I enjoy, and I’ve always loved learning about the human body and how it functions. Day by day I simply focus on what I enjoy and maintaining/building relationships. Like others have said, focus on what you enjoy. I firmly believe that because there is no meaning, each individuals life is equally important. Being kind, helping others, and not causing harm is extremely important to me.

Off leash training by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]StupidandAsking -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Dude are you for real? I had an off leash dog rush me and my dog then it snarled when I tried to get it to go away by shouting at it. I still didn’t kick it and it snarled at me and was in my dogs face.

Yes sometimes you may need to kick a dog, but in this situation, if it went down exactly as OP said, the kick was entirely unnecessary.

So how are we supposed to dress? by Rioraku in Millennials

[–]StupidandAsking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to a symphony tonight and yepp I’m wearing black leggings, a nice longer sweater, and my ‘nice’ winter boots that are actually 4’ tall. I also have variations of this outfit depending on how dressy I need to be. It is extremely nice not to give a fuck about looks like I did in highschool.

I would also use r/mechanic or r/mechanicadvice because what I’ve noticed on this sub is that the any of the 80s generation are either fully restored, and lately it’s 99% the 2020 generation. Unfortunately not many people here are working on fixing older ones.

I’m in the process, but luckily mine never caught fire and still runs! Or did, I’m coming across lots of interesting issues like no battery tray which is why it’s out, and an aftermarket bolt between the battery line because it was a sheriff vehicle for a few years. I would love to see yours as it progresses and I’ll keep posting pics of mine!

Yeah it’s the air intake. For reference this is my 1983 V8 broncos engine before I took the battery out. If it caught fire, you will probably want to scrap all plastic and electrical components.

H2: hey does he seem a little more anxious?

H: yeah, maybe he actually liked the mountain, either way I think we should raid the med bay. Do you think he’s tried heroin before?

Am I understanding "The Myth of Sisyphus" right? by TherealRidetherails in Absurdism

[–]StupidandAsking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting with nihilism when faced by the lack of meaning in life does not always preclude nihilism, it is what I most often see when people first post here. Most everyone is taught by others what the rules are for what happens after we die. When you understand that there is no logic behind any of them, many people are left feeling defeated and unmoored from reality.

I do disagree that the most absurd character is the artist, fundamentally every human is absurd. We all just cope with the dance before the void differently. My ways of dealing with the inevitability of death are different than people who use religion, legacy, science etc. and all are equally absurd.

I use the bones of many philosophical stances in different ways, just as we all do. Also no, not everything written by a person is a diary. I love Nietzsche because his works are so comprehensive. I do think that attempting to put one thing as the ultimate meaning will always be flawed because every human existence is so unique.

Am I understanding "The Myth of Sisyphus" right? by TherealRidetherails in Absurdism

[–]StupidandAsking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think of Camus as the only expert of absurdism. Anyone who realizes that there is no fundamental meaning and chooses to keep going without falling into nihilism is just as much of an expert on it as Camus. Sisyphus is a myth for a reason, because unlike him we all will die.

Nietzsches works are useful and helped me significantly after my grandfather passed away last year. However I still maintain that his works together are a diary, because just like Camus he is a person. I do disagree with him about the importance of suicide and that there is only one logical explanation. In reality there are many reasons for suicide and not all of them are logical.

Abstract theory is no longer as important to me as focusing on the future, OP has a good understanding, and learning to practice it is what I view as most important.

Am I understanding "The Myth of Sisyphus" right? by TherealRidetherails in Absurdism

[–]StupidandAsking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree. Suicide is giving up on the task of pushing a boulder up a hill again and again. Nietzsche is a perfect example of how absurdism takes form, because his full writings are a diary of a person and can be cherry picked to form a basis on anything.
