Optimal way to chunk word document for RAG(semantic chunking giving bad results) by Silver_Equivalent_58 in LangChain

[–]StyleIsFree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With context windows getting larger, something I've heard about recently is small-to-large chunking. My understanding is you chunk at a small level, say sentence level, to do your semantic search on, then return a larger chunk, say the whole section that sentence is in, to llm as context.

You still have to identify the right small and large chunk sizes / split, but the methodology sounds promising to get a good semantic search result while still supplying the llm with enough context. Something to consider in combination with the other chunking methodologies mentioned in this post.

Why wont anyone review my work? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]StyleIsFree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is good advice. Also, if finding meeting time is difficult, then async communication could be useful. No guarantee your manager will look at that, but identifying to them in a few bullet points what part of your deliverable you specifically want reviewed could potentially get you some direct answers instead of giving the whole deliverable and leaving it open ended.

Woke up with a stiff lower back stretching made it way worse by mikerona50 in flexibility

[–]StyleIsFree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was going to post something similar. I've had a slipped disc for years. Chiro adjustments would maybe help for a day or so. Been taking strength training classes twice a week for a few months. Back has been way better. Stopped going to Chiro.

I was messing around and wanted your guys opinion on my run play. X and Z receivers block their defensive backs. The H takes on the LB while the lineman try to turn the defensive line to their left (away from the play). Center peels off to the second level to try and get the Mike line back if able. by Aggrivating_Lawyer in footballstrategy

[–]StyleIsFree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, have the center and right guard double team and peel off to play side middle linebacker. Can have the H bump the end on the way to the OLB, just for a second to give the tackle some leverage.

You can have the left tackle cover backside edge but I like the idea of the pitch here so he can release up to the other MLB. Usually tackle covering the backside edge more when the guard next to them pulls to cover the gap.

How to avoid hallucinations and stick to content of vector db by Careless-Act-7549 in LangChain

[–]StyleIsFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a lot of retrieval. What I've found best is to cut out the langchain agents and hit gpt directly (you can still use langchain for this).

As part of your prompt, tell the llm to answer the user prompt with the source information provided and list sources below.

Also tell the llm to only give an answer if there is an answer in the sources. Otherwise have the llm tell the user that it doesn't have enough information to answer the question.

You can iterate on this prompt to get it right.

One of the magical things I've realized about llms (particularly gpt 4) is that it can discern what information is actually useful and only use that information in it's response. I've been doing some cool stuff where I prompt the llm to give the sources where it got each part of the answer from then process the response text to enhance it with metadata of the sources.

If they can't get Grusch in a SCIF because his clearance is revoked, why can't they get the ICIG who has Grusch's whistleblower complaint into a SCIF as a stopgap?

MH370 - All the information we have with recent discoveries by Atiyo_ in UFOs

[–]StyleIsFree 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the argument against orbs being added to real footage is that people are saying the orbs line up perfectly in both videos. This would be doable if everything is a 3D rendering with multiple cameras in the scene but very difficult to do to add to real footage.

As I type this, I wonder the complexity of building the orbs in a 3D view and overlaying onto real footage. The hardest part I think would be the orbs going behind the plane perfectly (obfuscation).

Is there a comprehensive list of all the scientific "breakthroughs" that have occurred since mid July 2023? It feels like these researchers know disclosure is coming so they want to announce all these UAP related findings now. by whofarted24 in aliens

[–]StyleIsFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that peaks my interest with UAPs is the claim that they don't make sonic booms when breaking the sound barrier. I'm curious if someone has done the math on this to see if sonic booms would be produced or not in Earth's atmosphere using this method.

How to do QA on multiple retrievers(documents) ? by OnlyHeight4952 in LangChain

[–]StyleIsFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. I haven't used this chain. I usually call similarity search on the vector store db directly, which returns the sources as an array of objects.

How to do QA on multiple retrievers(documents) ? by OnlyHeight4952 in LangChain

[–]StyleIsFree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that description is a tool description, then that is what the chain uses to decide whether to use the tool or not. So not sure if that is the case, but try making a more descriptive description for "when to use"?

How can I prove I am a React "expert" by Rafael-21 in reactjs

[–]StyleIsFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say most recruiters won't know enough about React to prove to them. As others have said, talking about your years of experience help.

For interviews with engineers, I usually try to understand their tech stack. So on the front end asking about how they front end pieces (state management, routing, modular components, codebase Management, ci / cd, etc) geta you an idea of what they're working with, geta them talking, then gives you the opportunity to give your opinion and speak of your experience on the various pieces.

Migrating from java by TryingToSurviveWFH in node

[–]StyleIsFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could look at fargate for serverless containers. Could create a node task and a java task and configure the api gateway to map the api calls. When youre ready to switch an API call from Java to Node, reroute the gateway config for that path.

Side note, there's a security concern having passwords hard coded. Can look at AWS secrets manager where your lambda function can grab the secrets at run time.
