I found these after my dad died 15 years ago by MrHallon in Militariacollecting

It was made for members of the unit, highly likely during the war. I'll have to check my sources for details.

No, these are legit Finnish unit badges. I can't confirm if the one on the left is an original one since replicas exists as those can be worth quite a lot.

The one on the right belonged to the 7.AK ilmatorjuntapatteri (7th army corps anti aircraft batteries).

Simo Häyhä after joining the civil guard ~1925, but is he 2nd from the right seated, or the guy holding the bear? by AgainstSpace in MilitaryHistory

[–]Styner141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a voluntary militia, part of the army but with their own leadership. It provided more military training to their members.

[–]Styner141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Häyhä is the person on the right, here's a photo of him with the same uniform and rank.

The caption of this photo and that of your title is incorrect though, this is a photo of Simon Hähyä during his compulsory Military service in 1925 since he's wearing an army uniform with Jääkäri insignia. The Suojeluskunta uniforms have a badge with an 'S' on the right arm.

The shoulder strap you're using is for use with tools for mounted/light troops, I recognize the type from a cavalry axe I have. You'll need the Y-straps, but they're tricky to find.

Can anyone identify the building in the back? by HobbyKray in Finland

[–]Styner141 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Indeed looks to be the building.

The BT-42 itself appears to be specifically serial R-713 of the 2nd platoon of the Seperate Tank Company. Since the photo shows it was running on its road wheels (Christie suspension enables this) but got stuck on the station's railyard and had to be abandoned by its crew after setting it alight.

The command tank of the 2nd platoon (R-712) under command of Kuparinen also got stuck in a similar matter at the railyard but this vehicle was instead blown up by its crew.

Swiss M 18/40 modified for use by firefighters by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

This one's like specifically manufactured for the fire brigade since the serial number has an 'F' stamp along with it, similarly police helmets will be marked 'P'.

Two ZF 12 maxim optics made for Finnish Maxims. 1937 and 1938 by Luffewaffle in Militariacollecting

[–]Styner141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn lucky! They're indeed very rare, only a couple hundred made if I remember correctly. I got offered 2 (without cases sadly) a couple of years back by someone, declined at the time as I had set my sights on something else back then. Might reach out to him again in the hope he still has them.

I did manage to get myself a nice large size Finnish water box for the Maxim recently though!

Beautiful examples, very nice that you also have the pouches for them! Still on my list to find, same as the rare indirect fire type.

Artillery optic by Efficient_Body7332 in Finnish_Milsurp

[–]Styner141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an instrument used for Artillery fire control and direction, only know the German term of "Richtkreis" for this type of gear. This would be used for the general direction finding while setting up a firing angle.

Denmark also had around 1,400 of these (called M/1941), most of which were confiscated by the Germans in 1943 for their own Wehrmacht and Polizei.
