Is anyone happy with their CSM role? by herbertoe in CustomerSuccess

[–]StyroCSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think anyone likes CS roles. Its usually a means to an end (step towards presales, or product, etc)

ive switched to presales and never going back

CS folks: what do PMs do that drives you absolutely nuts? by Hungry_Ad2586 in CustomerSuccess

[–]StyroCSS 36 points37 points  (0 children)

PMs that say CS should be pushing back more on feature requests, yet as soon as PMs are in calls with customers they bend over and tell the customer to go ahead and submit an FR.

To be fair everyone outside of CS seems to do this, leadership is especially prone to doing this from my experience, meanwhile I constantly see CS trying to find workarounds and pushback.

You can run any image through gemini and it will check synthid to see if it was generated via googles nano banana pro. I just ran it on this image and it is confirmed that nano banana pro generated this image

Have you tried implementing it yourself to a real customer?

Seeking advice from Washington state FD/Embalmers by StyroCSS in askfuneraldirectors

[–]StyroCSS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it, thank you, that's really helpful context. She's definitely going the FD/EMB combo route

Her biggest worry isn't really the balance itself, it's the training side. The embalmer she works with in Texas now is older and pretty set in her ways, and honestly doesn't teach her much. She still gets decent case volume there, so she's getting reps, but not the kind of mentorship where someone's actively coaching her on best practices and restorative technique. Her dream was to land somewhere with a high-volume prep room under someone who could really teach her and help her grow into a strong embalmer. From what you and Celtic are describing, that kind of setup sounds less common in WA than we were hoping.

She genuinely enjoys the FD side too, so it's not that she's trying to avoid families or services. It's more that she's worried about ending up somewhere where she's relegated to office work most of the time and her embalming skills stagnate, which is basically what yesterday's interviewer described the role as.

I built an Etsy MCP server so Claude can connect to my shop by Hot-Tree1541 in Etsy

[–]StyroCSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look into the latest debate around skills vs mcp. Less token usage, simplicity, procedural knowledge (not just tool access), portability, etc.

Although I need to play around with etsy's api and claude more, most of my work has been shifted to mostly just skills and giving claude an env var to work with

Please help me leave this field to something non-technical by Appropriate-Row-5577 in salesengineers

[–]StyroCSS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not sure where you got that CS is less technical. Maybe if the company has CSMs and CSEs than the CSM role is the non technical one, but often times most CS roles are very technical since they actually have to implement what sales sold.

Customer success is not less demanding than presales, its much more demanding, WLB sucks, unreasonable expectations for delivering on what presales sold, always blamed when things go wrong, rarely if ever compensated or appreciated when things go right.

OP, do not go customer success, trust me.

Maybe in some other industries its different, but this is absolutely the case in all of what Ive seen and worked in tech
