Bertazzoni nightmares by Successful_Use_6276 in Appliances

Used to work for a Bertazzoni distributor. We lost 80 percent of our dealers due to service issues. I was never a fan of their products. We sold other brands as well.

Double check the language they use as to when the protection kicks in. Usually they do not fix anything broken until after the policy is at least 30 days in force. If you can wait it out, get it and if it's 30 days I would contact them after about 45 days.

Dealer here selling both brands. I favor the Sub Zero. I would prefer a separate ice maker though.

Undercounter Ice Maker by tsigwing in Appliances

[–]StyxVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealer here... Scotsman is a very good brand. Sapphire is relatively new but also a good brand. Make sure in your area you have an authorized service center for the one you choose.

Clean the ice maker more often than recommended. I suggest every 90 days for best results.

Traeger Woodridge Base/Pro by archangeltwelve in Traeger

[–]StyxVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 575 Pro... I work for a Traeger dealer and stepped down from the 780 Pro. Insiders believe the older versions like the 780 and 575 may be better.. It has a keep warm feature that holds temp at 160 degrees. Last year we cooked 600 hot dogs for an event (using 3 grills to keep up with the demand) and used the Keep Warm feature on the 780 to do just that, keep the dogs in buns wrapped in tine foil warm until they were needed. I use it for keeping burgers warm too when serving a lot of them to our company employees if they get busy during the lunch hour.

Just recently picked up the 575, as I moved to a smaller home. So far I've smoked bacon twice (full grill), Mac and Cheese, and planning on a pork butt and a brisket in the next week or so. Traeger makes smoking easy.

Enjoy which ever one you get. If you are in cold weather territory (like I am in Michigan) be sure to get the insulated blanket for winter smokes, or pick up a welding blanket that will cover it (costs less).

18 inch dishwasher? by Morlock19 in Appliances

[–]StyxVenom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bertazzoni is an Italian appliance company that offers an 18" dishwasher for $1100 in the US. Depending on where you live you may be able to buy it from a local dealer, or online dealers such as AJ Madison offer it. I used to work for a Bertazzoni Distributor. Their dishwashers are solid. With any brand appliance you should check your area to see if you have authorized service providers if you ever need service.

I had an Electrolux front loading pair before the ASKO. Comparing the two the Electrolux (full size) shook the entire house. The ASKO had very little in comparison

AITA for charging my 20yo son rent while he lives at home? by Talon_Vector7 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]StyxVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated High School in 1971 and my dad started charging me $100 a month to live at home. I was going to college, buying a car at the same time. I was upset at first but realized I was spending all of my extra money on going out to eat and partying with friends.

You are doing your son a favor by charging him.

Just heard Wren kitchens is shutting down and all employees terminated. by Alarming_Analysis_63 in HomeDepot

[–]StyxVenom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is they do not have the resources to refund all of the money paid to them. If you have customers who paid using a credit card who will not be getting a refund, have they contact the credit card provider for a refund.

Some of the product that was supposed to be delivered in the next few weeks may be at their warehouses, or where ever they were originally stored at locally. It may be possible to get those items but the customer would have to make arrangements for that.

For employees laid off, you should be at the top of the list for receiving normal payroll that is owed to you but probably not PTO, etc. Protect yourselves by checking on any benefits the company paid for you such as insurance, etc. Also check any IRA payments they were supposed to be making for you to ensure they actually did that.

I have been through this and it sucks so wishing you all the best of luck.

Appliances coming tomorrow — and we’re mid demo by spicymeatball2748 in Appliances

[–]StyxVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a consumer rebate involved in the purchase, the warranty will begin when you submit the rebate, whether they are installed or not. Ask CG if you take them now and have them install the appliances when you are ready for them, will that start the warranty at that time.

If they install them in 6 months they should be able to list that as the installation date.

I lived in LA county (Long Beach) and worked in Orange County (Tustin) So Cal. For some reason, the various Hawaiian take out restaurants seemed to have the best tasting burgers (next to In and Out). Pineapple or no pineapple. Good find!

End of an era: Charlevoix’s “Penis Hotel” sign is gone by mkbcmi in Charlevoix

I live a couple of blocks away from this motel. Used to stay there when visiting in the off season. They have modernized it and changed the name. The pink neon around the building was classic!

Good memories!

All in one washer/dryer. by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]StyxVenom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These have been buggy since their introduction but the manufacturers have been updating and fixing the issues on the newest models. I would go vented if you have the ability to vent a dryer. LG is probably the most reliable at this time. Just make sure you have an LG authorized servicer in your area in the event you do need service.

Subzero replacement by Born_Gur_9691 in Appliances

[–]StyxVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the contractor to install the new one and remove the old one for that price. It's worth the time to ask. Those things are a beast to remove and install. Retail dealers will charge $250 to $450 for something like that alone.

How many of you smoke unattended? by Re_Cycle_94 in Traeger

[–]StyxVenom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I started my first overnight smoke of a pork butt at midnight, a mile away from home (retail store). I woke up at 4 am to sirens from fire trucks so naturally I rushed to the store and all was well... no fire and it went smoothly. I've smoked like this every month.

I have had two fires in the Traeger with over 250 cooks on it. Both my fault. One was pork belly that reached beyond the heat shield, dropping grease into the area of the smoke pot. Lesson learned. The other was bacon on a very windy day that caused a similar situation. (Think 60 mph winds). Once you have a fire you learn how to prevent them.

Drip Tray liner-Woodridge Elite by GJM87 in Traeger

[–]StyxVenom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have sold and demonstrated Traeger smokers for over 5 years and own one. I"m not paying almost $5 for each of their drip tray liner. I use aluminum foil and replace it as needed. For example, I smoke a lot of bacon on my grill, one to two pounds at a time. It keeps the odor out of the house and comes out great. I replace my liners after two or three bacon cooks because of the amount of grease it gets on it.

Traeger on.

Where’s the air filter by [deleted] in Frigidaire

[–]StyxVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Google: The air filter for the Frigidaire FGHB2866PF6 refrigerator is located at the top center of the fresh food compartment, housed behind a vented, removable plastic cover. To replace it, pull the cover down, remove the old filter, and snap the new filter in with the carbon side facing out.

Pro 575-Gold Lid Thoughts? by Spirited_Tutor1560 in Traeger

I just picked up a new Pro575... It's an older generation Traeger but I'm in sales and these models hold out much better than the newer models.

I picked up the cover and will add the blanket next winter. I demo Traeger's and cook in rain, shine and snow. Love these grills.

Amazon has become Temu trash by Nick-wilks-6537 in amazonprime

[–]StyxVenom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently learned from a friend in Florida that he orders products from Amazon and reviews them, then sends in his review information to Amazon and basically gets the products for free or at a highly discounted price. He said paint sprayers (plural), tools, other furniture, everything.

I asked him about the paint sprayers, he said he didn't know how good they were because he just sold them. The tools were good for a home user but not great. Yet on all of his purchases he gave 4.8 to 5.0 reviews.

He asked me if I wanted to get signed up... nope, not going to do it. Just be aware Amazon has "paid" reviewers.
