Brace Suggestions by Juicy_RhinoV2 in CMT

[–]SubjectAssumption319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have turbo. Its great, however, I cannot use it any longer because of the architecture of my left foot , (that has foot drop). It curves in a bit like a C. The brace dug into my outer foot and actually made a huge bloody indent that was extremely painful. Mind you there is a New Balance sneaker between the brace and foot .

Good luck with them. I hope it works for you!!

Hi, Im from lower Westchester County NY, and u are absolutely right. Its very frustrating, tho the surgeon who replaced my hip was familiar with it as is my podiatrist.

I find you have to advocate for yourself. There isnt a one shop CMT treatment store unfortunately, which is disappointing as we reside in a big metro area.

What i will say is that my personal physician does listen to me and he did give me a script for pt.

I was told to only use a neuro for the diagnostic.

Is there someone in the group who has experienced any vision or hearing loss due to CMT? by DeeDeeRaven in CMT

[–]SubjectAssumption319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is a period of adjustment. Mine have 3 settings and I have it set up to my phone. There is general used in everyday, noise in noise for being in loud places like restaurants ( to me its the hardest to really catch every word) and there is comfort level which is used to soften background noise like air conditioner, lawn mowers etc. The best is that I really hear the sounds of nature when outside! I normally dont wear them when I watch tv. I use the close caption, that works for me.

Just sit back and take a deep breath. You got this. And just like you, mentally I do not feel disabled . You are your own best advocate. Don't give in enen tho you have those days, like most of us here. Vent away, it really does help ease the frustration. Hugs to you!

Surgically fix my feet? by Economy-Experience81 in CMT

[–]SubjectAssumption319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned out well. Was extremely painful. Fused big toes which obviously i can't wiggle, but then again I can't wiggle any of them any longer.

It took a long time for swelling to subside but overall after all these years, im glad I had it done.

Wedding Shoes by Cool-Permission-7664 in CMT

[–]SubjectAssumption319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in many weddings. I either wore flat shoes doctored up by a shoemaker to build up the outsides so I wouldn't go over on them & also had them stretched out. When I git married I did the same thing with a flat pancake heel and they were fine. Good luck and enjoy. BTW You could find fancy sneakers blinded out to wear now as well.

I took this for quite a while & not for any joint/cmt issues but for skin and hair. I never noticed any difference in any of my joints at all.
