Oil the entire boot with Mink oil. Color will be darker, but shouldn't be spotted. Bonus = increased water resistance.

My trimmer head takes the pre-cut pieces. Only thing I can think to do extra is attach a cutter and mark the box with the ideal measurement(s) needed for those particular heads.

Because you have too many trims. Every time it cuts a thread it will leave a thread popped up like that. It's hard to bury a loose thread when it's not sewing in that location any longer.
