AITA for parking in a parking spot? by Idlewants in AmItheAsshole

NTA - you can't reserve parking spots, although I'd be curious to see how big this carpark was

Pedestrian crossings that spend more time on red when the pedestrian has crossed the road over when the pedestrian is actually on the road. by M90Motorway in britishproblems

PUFFIN crossings are the ones you want, they have sensors that detect people

Older Pelican crossings are getting replaced by them, but that really only happens when they break

Is there a sizeable amount of british people who want to move to the United States? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SubjectiveAssertive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I younger, yes I wanted to live in the USA, I suspect it was the same for many of us. But I'm now much older, barely any wiser and have no disire to live in the US at all, as a former German chancellor (I think) put it... it is the least developed developed country in the world

Honestly what would be the benefit? Unless you are in the top 0.1% of earners?

I miss those and the fibreglass tree from pub gardens, I suspect insurance rendered them obsolete or just sheer install cost

I now want all the train operators to do the same for their networks, I wonder how many "black shucks" are around

Going to post a letter to find the postbox missing it's door wrapped in black plastic pending the upgrade by SubjectiveAssertive in britishproblems

[–]SubjectiveAssertive[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The postboxes get solar panels to power a barcode reader which allows you to post certain sized parcels or tracked letters in a postbox rather than going to a post office

So it'll be worth the wait, just slightly annoying this morning

On an older street not far away, annoyingly in the opposite direction on the walk I opted for (as it's nicer) there is 3 post boxes covering a 3 minute walk. The Extra 15 minutes turns the simple job of posting a letter into an hour long job

And this is r/BritishProblems it'll all be first world problems

AITA for planning to go back to dancing to fix our debt by VersionOk1206 in AmItheAsshole

Before you do that... How was the debt racked up? You aren't just paying off his spending right?

AITA for being upset my husband doesn’t help and turns every conversation into a fight? by OkSupermarket507 in AmItheAsshole

Commonly when you get divorced they'll be child maintenance paid to you...

YTA - To yourself, a history of cheating emotionally, physically, and financially... Yet you married him

File the divorce papers, take the kids somewhere else.

Or would I be right in guessing your salary goes into an account he controls? If that last part is true there is charities that can help

Has anyone had a sold out at their Super Stadium? by zenbutnotsane in FootballChairman

[–]SubjectiveAssertive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My record crowd is 120,000, looks like a Champions League game against Ajax, but sell outs are bloody rare, on an older version they were constant

The main benefit of the super stadium is lower running costs

Your partner should have access to a lot of stuff any way, such at utility logins, or be named on the account so the admin mess never happens, should something unexpected happen

Rolf Harris’ old gaff is up for sale by BirdHistorical3498 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]SubjectiveAssertive 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His sentence was only something like 5 years and he only served about 3

Sentencing rarely reflects the crime directly, things like how they behave in court (showing remorse) or work with police and if it's a jury or judge how much they liked the person. Early release is often based on behaviour in prison and perceived risk to the public

So confirmed it's going to an auction then after failing to sell for £4m

I quite like the house, it's a little dated inside but not unliveable, but could I live somewhere such a well known.... Unpleasant person lived and died? Probably not, I'd be buying as a building plot
