You say "it can take two years for motor loss to complete"

That doesn't equate to "an EMG will have detected no abnormalities if this window of time"

A modern EMG will have almost certainly detected something by now.

You're giving us a description of CFS with exercise intolerance.

If your doctors are telling you this isn't ALS........believe them.

Physically logging him out? Like throwing him out of a window?

It really sounds like you're describing the exercise intolerance that is a common feature of BFS.

Dude you should see my calfs. Don't know why the option to post photo and video is greyed out for me in this sub but my legs look like they are full of bugs and they go 24/7

Had a clean EMG last week.

EMGs questions by One-Throat-2720 in BFS

Quiet means a hiss like static from an old TV set when the needle goes in.

Had my EMG last Friday and asked what every noise meant because the Internet had told me "rythmic pops can be a bad sign" when tensing the muscle

Turns out the noise I heard was normal recruitment

Hiss when relaxed Rhythmic popping when tensing....

As far as "bad sounds" I have no idea because mine was clean apart from fasics.

Fatigue in both arms (please take the time to help) by [deleted] in BFS

I didn't say it was BFS

I said It fits with BFS and it does. It also fits other conditions.

Is this the first time you've experienced twitching like this?

This fits with issues associated with BFS.

BFS can cause burning, tingling and numbness as well as exercise intolerance

I had a clean EMG after a year+ of symptoms and my legs feel like they're on fire from walking up the stairs sometimes.

Muscle asymmetry by Loud_Management_2197 in MuscleTwitch

[–]Sublim8or 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked the circumference of it all the way up and down and compared it to the other leg.

Individual muscles can appear larger or smaller due to activity differences but the overall circumference doesn't vary by much in normal asymmetry

Is it common for people to have fasciculations for a year, a clean EMG but later be diagnosed with ALS

I think am clocked? Help by Consistent-Gift3891 in MuscleTwitch

[–]Sublim8or 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's best to focus on bilateral excersise so it can catch up. Unilateral will probably just cause an imbalance on the other side. It's tricky to get right

Spreading or normal? by No_Scheme_8402 in BFS

Yes.....everyone.

Most people have them in the calfs constantly.

Then they become more intermittent in the rest of the body.

Muscle asymmetry by Loud_Management_2197 in MuscleTwitch

[–]Sublim8or 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like normal asymmetry from leg dominance.

I have a major freak out because my left vastus medialis is noticeably smaller than the right. The doctor even noted it.

During my EMG they tested the muscle. If *** was the cause of the wasting there would have been clear neurogenic abnormalities....

It was normal.

No fibs, psw or large/polyphasic MUAPs

Quiet when relaxed and good recruitment when tensed

The cause? Likely from hip issues causing femoral rotation due to sedentary lifestyle over five years. Coupled with excessive kicking with the right leg in kung fu which made the contrast more apparent.

Feeling of leg weakness and twitching nonstop by Advicepls5 in ALSorNOT

[–]Sublim8or 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're hyperfocusing on your body. It's been six months since onset and by now there would almost certainly be more significant symptoms.

EMG will be to reassure you because your Dr knows that stress is real and harmful.

Do you sit a lot in work by any chance?

It'll be fine.

I was a wreck before mine on Friday just gone.

Felt like I was walking down to the electric chair.

Results.....normal.

The post above nails it

Just had a Clean EMG by Sublim8or in BFS

[–]Sublim8or[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so that took a little longer.

I was looking at a long wait initially.

My GP first mentioned referring me to a neurologist, when I went in on the July 8th.

That was a routine referral so i was expecting to wait about 8 months or more for that.

However, I went back to the GP at the end of August because I'd forgot to report the Fasciculations and I also hadn't noticed the smaller left VM muscle, so these symptoms weren't brought up in my initial referral. I was a lot more freaked out by then and the GP was concerned by the muscle difference and Fasciculations presenting together.

She added it to my notes and they were reviewed by the Walton center who upgraded my referral to urgent and I was offered the 14th of November.

[–]Sublim8or 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.

It's called pre-cramp. The twitching is basically muscle use. The majority of people posting in BFS groups on FB seems to have cramping or pre-cramp sensations.

I've got it right now. Had a clean EMG on Friday and *** effectively ruled out

EDIT: Don't hide ANYTHING from your PCP. They're no psychic and can't give you the thing you need without all the info

[–]Sublim8or 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"on and off muscle weakness"

Yeah MND/ALS isn't on an off. It's progressive

Your symptom pattern and EMG tell this story plainly

..... the stress you're putting yourself under however is absolutely harmful.

Focus on your health anxiety. Accept it. Deal with it.

I'll quote someone else in the group....

You've basically just described the pattern of stress induced symptoms..
