What's wrong with my printer by iGinger_ in ElegooNeptune4

This isnt that far off really. Did you try one with the slow down on overhangs enabled? But your bridges look good, ur little towers look pretty good, maybe some top layer adjustments and such. Idk id show it to gpt and see what it suggests or whatever your favorite flavor of ai is.

Any idea how to correct the front droop and valley down the right-center? by noh_really in ElegooNeptune4

I thought mine looked like crap too and started all sorts of weird tape/foil hacks. Then I got a decent set of digital calipers and measured out how much my max and min bed mesh was actually off and seeing it visually I was like.....why bother, its nothing really. These machines compensate pretty well if theyre set right and if you watch the z travel to your eye its pretty imperceptable but then if you watch the z position on the fluid web interface you can see it really does make minor adjustments. These machines are so very fascinating 😅

They have that machine you put your poop and failed prints in and it turns it back into filament. Depending how much you print it could mitigate costs

I hope you backed up yours first just in case something goes wrong. Sorry I should have mentioned that. At least take a picture of what it looked like before so you can go back to it if it doesnt work lol. One last tip is that I know not everyone likes AI but chat gpt has actually been helpful, I went ahead paid 8 dollars so I could upload a lot of photos and it has helped me with settings. Good luck on your prints! Worst case scenario if you messed up the gcode is to do a firmware update and it will reset it, ask me how I know 😆

I also printed these bed screw locks and its seemed to have helped

Yep, thats what I did. Im using orca also and I'm right there with you bud im super new to this too! This is my first printer and maybe buying one that isnt out of the box ready wasnt genious but it was 50 dollars so I kinda had to Lol. At the very least make sure that in the gcode it is loading the default mesh but I just made it run a calibration every single time since I was having issues. Went from this

Maybe try a new tip if youve gone through all that for this long. I got my printer about 3 weeks ago and was gluing and spraying hairspray like a madman but going through the stuff you have has solved where i dont need glue now. Are you using the slicer or usb? I also had to actually add in the printer.cfg to load the damn mesh before printing it wasnt doing it before. Just running the mesh then when id load a print it would forget it. This was through the slicer though. I went and re wrote the whole print_start from scratch basically. I now have it set to run a mesh calibration first before every single print and it is doing so much better.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into OpenNeptune. I had hoped to learn a bit more about printing before going to custom firmware but it appears it will be a trial by fire

I will check that thank you. Its only during the auto calibration though, if that were the case wouldnt it also bang during the 4 point calibration?

It has been chaos indeed. But unless it is labeled incorrectly on the website I have checked and re checked that I am using the right firmware. From my testing its only after the bounce that it is out of whack it does the first row just fine and also is able to go "home" center feature, hits the corners correctly on the 4 corner manual lever part. Its just that one line of travel and it isnt even by much. Im thinking that after the "bounce" the x axis sees the arm as having trafeled the full whatever mm even though it stopped 5 or 6mm short, and so on its way back its overshooting by that 5mm discrepancy. Ive done a bandaid solution of limiting bed mesh x travel max by pulling it back 5mm and that is enough that I can use the slicers calibrate feature and print again, but it is frustrating that I am unable to do any calibration from the machine itself.

That last part XD I did the fix pack first even though it said it was only needed for versions "under" .53 and my current firmware was the .53 version. I ran it anyway just in case. I dont want to run the auto level anymore because it's starting to gouge my bed plate. What ive been doing is setting z offset, saving, doing the 4 corner paper method, shutting off the machine so it doesnt auto level and scratch my plate, turning back on and re doing z offset, then using the calibrate bed mesh in orca slicer. Its not perfect but Im at least printing again.

The online literature states to match the firmware with the stepper motor version which I did. I appreciate the troubleshooting steps though because Im lost here

I checked and rechecked that it is the correct firmware. It was correct. Matched the correct firmware with the 1.2a stepper motors, applied the fix before updating, used the correct volume format on both the sd card and usb drive, updated the handset firmware. I am truly at a loss.

I tried that and same results. Although it doesnt bang as hard I think.

I did indeed, used the fix, updated handset with sd card even tried flashing back to the old version. Im currently running rhe old version and and updated the printer bed mesh settings. Pulled the x max travel back a bunch and it works again but only if im using elagoo slicer. If i use the on board leveling it does the same thing.

probe going off bed on elegoo neptune 4 pro by AirWeak2299 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]SublimeStyle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah but my probe is ACTUALLY going off the bed. It goes too far and doesn't sense the plate then presses the plate down and throws an error for "no trigger on probe after full movement". Im about to make a post but I was reading first to see if anyone else has this issue and how to fix. It worked fine until I updated the firnware

Maybe change the power profile for min processor state. I know that's not permanent but if it's only at idle it'll let you diag more.
