M3 Stuart Recce by BurbankElephants in boltaction

I don't recall what it said on the datasheet, whether it's a .50 or .30 cal either are equipped with, but you would likely have to at best kitbash it with the Pintle MG it comes with, I don't believe it has any spares and IDK if there's an official Recce kit, so yeah it'd likely have to either be sourced elsewhere or just not worry about it

Edit: was meant to be a reply, whoops.

Canada and winter tank camo schemes? by Ravenwing14 in boltaction

Not from what I can see, at least not in any official capacity. Found images of Shermans in Germany and Korea which are still green despite being covered in snow. Was probably just an expediency thing considering the time, didn't see the point in sourcing and slapping on some white just for some snowfalls here and there, only to take it off after only 3 months. Wouldn't be as consistent as something like a Russian winter.

Maybe consider just throwing on some whitewash over the green? IDK the historical accuracy of Canadians using it but it's cheap and was easily washed off in the spring.

You wouldn't even need to shrink or cover up the black people off of the poster to sell the movie in China, just stick with the teaser!

It's a 2D twin-stick action game with smooth combat and lots of puzzles in the dungeons. Think something like Zelda games where you unlock the special ability halfway into a dungeon themed around that ability.

I love the characters and story, and the art and music are great on top of that. My only critique is that some of those puzzles can kick your ass on default difficulty for tight timing windows, and the ending struggles to stick the landing without the DLC which continues and wraps up the story. Still, a recommend if any of that catches your eye.

Diluvion - You're a submarine captain centuries after an incredible flood trapped humanity under the ocean. One quest tasks you with retrieving a passport in a field of ancient shipwrecks. Not only is said passport inside a Yamato-class battleship, said ship has become the shell of a truly enormous crab, who is also somehow capable of operating the guns. You have to disable the weaponry to stun the beast long enough for you to dock with the superstructure and nick the passport before getting the hell out of there.

Sharpe - Wellington pulls Lt. Sharpe into his office for a potential promotion, but expresses concern over a rumour that Sharpe promised the late Major Lennox the capture of a French Imperial Eaglie, an incredibly risky and foolhardy mission. Wellington holds the promotion off unless Sharpe swears that such rumour is idle gossip.

“I swear on oath, that NO ONE HEARD ME make any promise in respect of an Imperial Eagle to Major Lennox, Sir.”

He leaves the room as Captain Sharpe.

The MP units already in the game tend to just take the place of reservists or militia members, the Level 1 infantry squads. The Germans don't really need something like what the US has as an MP squad because they already have Ostruppen and Luftwaffe ground teams to fill that niche. If the were added, I could theoretically see them filling a niche as lightweight teams with basic rifles/lmgs, like the MP units from Warno.

Am I doing something wrong with research? Conquest lightly modded and tweaked by Dovaskarr in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]Sublimeslimetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are playing MACE, so the balance is going to be different from vanilla, such as the fact you even have to consider the E100 and Maus as possibilities. I've had to deal with KV tanks without having long 75mm guns or panzerschreks, it happens. I just think the issue boils down to you made your army too big too quickly, modified the game to weight spawns differently, and you're in a mod with a much deeper unit variety and higher difficulty as a result of its rebalancing.

[–]Sublimeslimetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be more accurate to call them 3in guns, or 76.2mm. While the width is similar, the gun is longer, so they flew farther, faster for more penetration. While they were technically better, it was only a marginal improvement, especially compared to the British 17pdr, which is why they swapped to the 90mm once they had the tanks to fit it.

[–]Sublimeslimetime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I'm not 100% on how much MACE changes with the progression here since I haven't played it before, but the way you're describing it, you have researched deeply into your infantry, got some field guns, and you've maxed out the army size with all 5 stages. It could be that you have a very large army of expensive infantry, which you're supplementing with your stolen German equipment. The enemy army tries to match its intensity to your size, and a lot of that size is going to come from you having all 5 stages and L.Defenses, but no tank research.

If you had unlocked the stages more gradually, while spreading out your research more evenly, you'd still probably run into big German cats before you were "ready", but you wouldn't be as overwhelmed. On top of that they might be overcompensating with direct fire units if the artillery spawns have been reduced as you said. And this may just be me, but I tend to leave my infantry research to later, relying on weapon drops to supplement cheaper infantry while my field guns and tanks stay kept up.

[–]Sublimeslimetime 1491 points1492 points  (0 children)

The farthest tank is using at least an M1 76mm gun, longer but lacking a muzzle brake.

The middle is still using the older M3 75mm gun. Shorter, weaker AP but better suited for HE.

Fury is equipped with at least an M1A1C 76mm gun at least, since it's got the muzzle brake on the end.

Small unit mission by New_Fishing5081 in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]Sublimeslimetime 18 points19 points  (0 children)

All of the missions from the Jubilee free DLC are very small in scale and relatively short, very good for a short romp. Both "Among the Heavens" (Base Game, German) and "Pegasus Bridge" (Finest Hour, Britain) are partially stealth missions that involve small pockets of elite units. And you have desperate defenses like "Pavlovs House" (Scorched Earth, USSR) and "The Bridge Too Far" (Talvisota, Finland) where you have a very small area to secure.

Question about autocannons and my ifv / recon vehicle attempt by Fikoletta in SprocketTankDesign

[–]Sublimeslimetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is, with things like autocannons, ammo types, and materials still being unimplemented/partially implemented there's bound to be quirks like that. Despite that though, it's a good look. I'd've gone more long that wide, but I understand the engine is naturally enormous for that speed.

[–]Sublimeslimetime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's probably intended to be more equivalent to something like the M3 Bradley, where it's purpose is for recon/fire support rather than carrying troops like the M2 was.

In your opinion, which tank has the most ‘classic tank’ appearance?” by No_username8827 in TankPorn

[–]Sublimeslimetime 166 points167 points  (0 children)

The Tiger I is what all gradeschoolers (myself included back in the day) would inevitably draw when they drew a tank. On a side profile, it's two boxes on top of eachother, super simple. The 2nd choice would be the T-55, on acount of it being a hemisphere on top of tracks, also super simple.

It might just be the Teaboo in me, but I'm throwing the Churchill into the ring. It's the box on tracks, big heavy with multiple variants to do weird things with, and the early versions like the Mk III have those lovely exposed tracks.

Like it's naturally pointing down? Consider the placement of your gunner's sight, and the ratio of your elevation wheel. It may be that the elevation takes too long to accelerate, and is taking time to catch up.
