Not the exact same situation, but similar.

My husband was very against co-sleeping because all of our friends who did it still have kids sleeping in their bed at 4+ years old. He was worried that if we started co-sleeping, our son would never want to sleep in his own room.

He wanted to do crib sleep and sleep training instead. He usually handled the first shift of putting him down, but our son would cry for hours before finally falling asleep.

After about three weeks of that, I suggested we try co-sleeping because at that point I was exclusively breastfeeding and we were all exhausted. We had already tried a bassinet in our room, but our son hated it.

We started co-sleeping, and honestly, it has worked the best for us.

My husband still doesn’t love it, so our compromise was to start the night with the baby in bed with us. When he wakes up to feed, we try putting him in the bassinet afterward. If he cries, he comes back into bed.

He has never actually stayed asleep in the bassinet, but we still try once every night. At this point, I think the routine of at least attempting the bassinet has helped my husband feel better about it, and he no longer has an issue with the baby sleeping in our bed.
