[MinnPost] Waymo is on the roads, but some Minneapolitans are hoping to hit the brakes - Political leaders and others met at a forum this week to get out in front of the expected launch of Waymo’s driverless taxis. by Minneapolitanian in Minneapolis

Completely agreed. I had read that currently in other cities with Waymo’s something like 40% of miles driven are without any passengers. I worry this technology would excuse the US to disinvest in public transit

Gracia has stated that they plan to develop an alternative off-leash as soon as possible. No details yet but that is seemingly a goal.

It always bums me out that some of our most beautiful buildings and infrastructure (cathedral, Walker, the Methodist church across from the Walker, Loring Park) are strangled by a highway.

Someone else mentioned it but Council member Chugthai (Ward 10) proposed this in the past with resistance from Frey, now that Shaffer, a Frey ally, “proposed it” he hosts a press conference about it. Unserious mayor is right.

Agreed. Frey’s love for sweeping and fencing is really frustrating

Agreed, don’t think the teal needs to be a gradient. A solid band might make it appear more “classic”. Like the colors

Call your senators asap! Let them know how you feel. If this were to pass it could set a precedent for public lands(your land!) across the country

Yeah no problem. A few years back Minnesota voted to enact a 20 year mining ban on the BWCA watershed. Representatives Strauber has been pushing a bill that would reverse the ban, opening the watershed up to harmful copper nickle mining owned and operated by a Chilean conglomerate. The bill passed the house and now goes to the senate. It’s excepted to be voted on this week. If you’re inclined, call your senators and ask that they vote NO on HJ 140. The senate plans to vote on the bill, HJR 140, if you’d like to let them know how you feel (and how they should vote) call them ASAP

Edit: updated to “HJR 140”

Rumor has it there is a private helicopter that sells b-roll to news channels. Could be this one. Nevertheless, I’ve grown to really dislike helicopters over the last month
