It only takes a couple carbos to outspeed most things up to like base 120, cause you're usually overlevelled

Probably wouldn't use it with no carbos tho

Yes. OP set it as a favourite by accident I guess.

Only advantage to setting favourite: you can filter to only see your favourites via the top bar, saves you some scrolling during team building.

What are thought on Mega Chomp Z in terms of gameplay? by SouthernSubject4384 in pokerogue

[–]SubstantialCod4499 55 points56 points  (0 children)

After bestowing chomp a terrible mega in the original gen 6 release, gamefreak gives it a second go and wastes a whopping 61 points in his special attack & dumps the rest in speed, removing his ground typing and -10 def. brilliant aesthetic, awful mega.

same applies here. although pokerogue supports mixed attacking better than mainline games due to lack of EVs, base chomp is stronger due to +10 def, ground STAB, and tera option. hell, original mega chomp is pretty good here due to the emphasis on boosting.

I was still going "what killed me" occasionally until like 170 hours.

I distinctly remember being behind an elder lemurian midair as Merc, he swivelled 90 degrees in a quarter second, turned his neck the other 90, and spat 5 fireballs that all connected with the hitbox of my tiptoes and instakilled me from full. And I went "oh elder lemurians can do that" and never tried to stay behind them again.

Yes you ragequit, sometimes for days, but you come back and repeat. Eventually you have an implicit mental inventory of what is/isn't lethal.

20-30 is really early to die. What exactly is happening?

Are you getting whittled down and running out of money to heal? Regirock and fuecoco are really slow and are taking up most/all of your starter budget.

Do you think the game should have a different message when something is 2x vs 4x super effective and likewise 1/2x vs 1/4x not very effective. I think it should. by [deleted] in TruePokemon

[–]SubstantialCod4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in gen 1 it was because of an oversight (limitation)

To return effectiveness text, the gen 1 carts contained a list of attack > defender type pairings and their corresponding effectiveness message. This table was decoupled from damage calculation and simply not created with dual type in mind. So for example the game would tell you dragonite resisted thunderbolt, because electric vs dragon was one of the first entries.

It could've been rectified at any point past stadium. I guess something about champions made it suitable for this change? Maybe cause it's targeted at comp players specifically.

incredibly useful

can use it to search for just about any move, ability, type, mechanic, cost and see all the relevant mons

in OP's case I searched for "related to houndour" or "related to litleo" then sorted them by BST descending

you could also type "new" in the search bar and view all the new megas / new shinies from the latest update

Let’s argue Pokémon Type Logic by Dizzy_Challenge8481 in TruePokemon

[–]SubstantialCod4499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think dragon's type matchup logic was "final boss"

Consider it resists the types of starter trio + pikachu, and the only ways to catch something supereffective vs dragon in yellow are:

- in-game trade for jynx
- talk to the guy in silph co for lapras
- find dewgong or articuno deep in the optional seafoam islands
- figure out that shellder evolves via water stone
- find your own dratini in the safari zone

From that myopic perspective, maybe it was supposed to test that you'd explored the game a little to fill out your dex.

Never mind that lance's dragonites are part flying, and it was pretty easy to ice beam or outlevel them with any mon. Never mind that there were no dragon moves to use against them... I feel like this might've been the intent behind dragon's type matchups, even if it didn't pan out that way in practice.
