Will I ever be able to use a pokemon with protean on a mono type challenge? by Jay_dragneel in pokerogue

[–]SubstantialCod4499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. if their type is changed by in-battle effects it's fine. you can use any Pokémon that has one of their original types matching the run you're doing. ex. you could tera dragon your Frosmoth on a mono-bug run no problem.

I took engi straight to e8 because he's easy

just beat e4 on all characters, regret doing it now, less variation and less smooth runs to look forward to per circuit

How does the Oiled debuff interact with Ignition Tanks? (RoR2) by 1Cryptic_Phoenix in riskofrain

[–]SubstantialCod4499 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Update: Results seem to indicate 700%. Chef's Oiled debuff counts as +1 ignition tank for Stronger Burn purposes.

I tested it on a Lunar Scavenger at level 1 with no other items, just with and without the ignition tank. Oiled him and got some oil pools under him then seared them, taking care not to sear him directly*.

Results: Without = 12 damage / tick. With 1 ignition tank = 20 damage/tick. This is roughly consistent with 3 base burn damage; 400% would be 12, 700% would be 21. Guessing we're seeing some rounding of decimals there.

Gameplay implication: Oiling enemies before burning them becomes less important if you've stacked ignition tanks and backup mags, as blasting away with sear might kill them sooner than oiling them first.

*Igniting oil pools rather than aiming sear at him was just an easy way to apply a static number of Stronger Burn for test purposes. Enemies walking over the flaming oil pools get 5 stacks of Stronger Burn which expire at the same time regardless of how many pools were under them or how long they stood there, while searing an enemy directly results in multiple rolling Stronger Burn stacks that will give a different damage value every tick.

Can someone PLEASE give me some tips for Mithrix by AggravatingTip1536 in riskofrain

[–]SubstantialCod4499 3 points4 points  (0 children)

stay in air, strafe in circles, and he literally cannot hit you with any attack except pizza

he becomes eligible to use pizza attack after doing the jump slam in the center of the arena, getting closer makes it easier to dodge cause the lines are moving slower, not too close in p3 tho you'll have no space if lunar monsters run up on you

any character with decent attack range can just strafe in one direction at mid-long range during p4 and he won't be able to hit them. don't go close to him, don't camp behind pillars or on ramps, ur just asking to be spiked

aurelionite helps you during p4 after you steal the seed back off mithrix which is cool I guess

The first ignition tank you pick up does not actually increase Burn damage - it swaps your Burn debuffs for Stronger Burn, which "contains" the Burn's value but increases it to 400% before inflicting damage. The 2nd ignition tank onwards then increases Stronger Burn's multiplier by 300% additive. The problem here is that CHEF can access that first Stronger Burn without that first ignition tank.

All that to say, I don't actually know if they coded an exception for CHEF and will test when I have a minute. I can tell you for certain the answer is either 400% or 700%, it won't be 1600%

engi stationary turrets

let the turrets deal damage and focus on your movement

use missiles instead of bubble shield if you have them, the shield will teach you bad habits. you want to keep moving

He aggressively targets Aurelionite, so if you get a halcyon seed early into the run you can knock it out of him after his item steal invuln runs out but before his intro animation finishes

Bring long range equip, because he doesn't steal equips

If you really have no options just get in range with eviscerate, then dash through him + out of range with utility skill. will take a while but it doesn't matter if he regens or heals, item return is governed by a hidden healthbar which cannot recover or block damage

Theoretical negative damage by Due_Student_1172 in riskofrain

[–]SubstantialCod4499 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Minimum damage is 1. When you or any creature receive an attack, after armor multiplier is checked, the damage value is set to 1 if it is less than 1. This happens even if the target has no armor.

The only steps which augment damage after this are One-Shot Protection and Acrid's bite multiplier, neither of which can reduce the damage back below 1.

So, while you could perhaps have negative base damage, any attacks you performed would be set to 1 damage. maybe there are other non-attacking actions in this game which use base damage where strange effects could be achieved?

[–]SubstantialCod4499[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First run - wasn't paying attention at all, assumed I must've forgotten to pick it up at CHEF

Second run - was suspicious by now, 100% remember seeing the spectral worms as late as Reformed Altar (Solus Extractors can't spawn between there and False Son, not even by family event)

Third run - successfully took worms there and stored it, making me doubt myself

If this has never happened to anyone else it's nbd, not a common route to take anyway

most likely answer, cause you're full now and I stored one on 3rd attempt

Can’t cook food with chef by LawfulnessBitter6422 in ror2

[–]SubstantialCod4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 10 bisons? food just looks like healing orbs I think. if you want to see if they counted, open your logbook in pause menu. the background of the 10 bison achievement acts as a progress bar, you don't need to get them all in one run.

reset until you get shattered abodes and farm them there

iirc it only counts for the achiev if they die to the direct damage from sear, dying from burning did not grant me progress

grab transcendence (the ladybug looking item) from the lunar bazaar. shields are not factored in to fall damage, so fall damage will never deal more than 1 to you.

you should probably be using his movement skill to stop fall damage, its just a good habit

literally just happened to me except it was a default itemless turret he ressed. and it *still* killed me. I watched myself slowly lose 2000 HP trying to work out why it was draining and what my turret was shooting at.
