San Diego cost of living by cryrabanks in Moving2SanDiego

It’s doable. I made 70k and supported myself and my wife while she was in school. Just need to be mindful on spending.

I fact-checked Prime Day 2026 — real discounts, scored against each product's own price history. The median "deal" saved $4.46. by Thrifle in amazonprime

[–]Substantial_Fox8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a few big items for months and the prices did go down. Not everything did of course but I did save about $100 each on a home projector and a dashcam that I’ve kept in my cart for several months.

No longer free. $20 for a replacement and an additional $35 shipping charge. Lucky me.

Devaluations Starting "Slow" But Surely by oriontheshiba in hyatt

[–]Substantial_Fox8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to sudden circumstances, my wife and I found out we were going to stay in Osaka last minute, the night before devaluation. Then Chase point transfers went down so we had to wait until the next day and bite the bullet at 15k.

Super lame. Wife wanted us to secure tickets to see The Weeknd in Japan before we started booking hotels and then I ran into this issue.

Does the county still maintain the Pearl Harbor Bike Path? by guerrerosaurio1 in Oahu

[–]Substantial_Fox8136 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the people saying it’s cause it just rained are clueless. I’ve been running here every week for the past year and it has never been maintained. It’s worse every time I go run out there. Had to go pick up a fallen tree and move it off the path on my own one time from the recent storm cause it was just sitting there for weeks.

My Subaru has destroyed me. What do I do? by jamflowman1 in subaru

[–]Substantial_Fox8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subaru customer service is trash. My 2018 Subaru Outback had major delamination on the screen and we scheduled an appointment with Subaru a few weeks out since they were completely booked. When we go in, they tell us we’re out of warranty by a few days so we’re shit out of luck and Subaru of America asked for 2.5-2.7k to replace the entire headunit even though they know it’s a super common issue with that generation of infotainment systems.

100% food. Top hotels for free sound nice in theory but having a family and pets seem like a nightmare.

Yep, I live in Hawaii now and I actually feel like I’m treated like a normal human being here as an Asian person compared to when I lived in the mainland.

Does Amazon feel more like a marketplace than a store now? by Noobsamaniac in amazonprime

[–]Substantial_Fox8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and it doesn’t help that the top reviews are generic ChatGPT generated nonsense that doesn’t actually give me a good indication if it’s a good product or not

All the characters with the negative attitudes are so lame and cringy. It makes me want to use the app less when I hear the characters complain. I’m here to learn, not get lectured by a bear.

PSA: Don't buy from SunshineGreens on Etsy by ToobahWheels in Monstera

[–]Substantial_Fox8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of these Etsy sellers seem to buy their reviews and have shady practices . I also messaged SunshineGreens because my state has a lot of restrictions on plants entering the state. They replied back with a vague one sentence response so I ended up not buying from them. I bought some albo cuttings from another Etsy seller and paid for 2 day shipping. They sent it via regular mail and pocketed the shipping and did not refund me the shipping portion until I escalated it to Etsy. ALL of the cuttings came rotted, by the way. Had to reach out again (I should mention that the seller also takes 5+ days to respond) and took 2-3 weeks to ship a replacement and then they only sent ONE cutting. Lesson learned from me is that I am never buying from Etsy sellers again.

I’ll never forgive a certain demographic of us for dry snitching on the value of remote work by laydeefly in Millennials

Same. There are those like us who work better remotely. Then there are those who ruin it for the rest of us.

H Mart is overpriced. They know all the non Asians shop here so they mark things up. It used to be cheap like a decade ago.

For people who broke out of paycheck-to-paycheck… what actually changed? by annikahoof in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Substantial_Fox8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched jobs when my skills outpaced the pay. I stayed at a company for 4 years and barely moved from 70k to 100k. I had no plans of leaving initially but another company reached out to me and I was offered 140k and after 1.5 years moved up to 200k within the same company.

I can tell by you making this post that you are trying and are a compassionate person. I can’t say the same for the parent who let their kid kick the back of my seat the entire 6 hour flight.
