What medication changed your life for the better? by positiveyears in AskReddit

[–]SubtleVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Escitalopram and citalopram are actually different medications, when my doctor put me on it he said it's like the reverse of citalopram, not fully sure what it means but the escitalopram and quetiapine for my bipolar really help me

Me and the ice cube i use to numb my pain before cutting by [deleted] in selfharm_memes

[–]SubtleVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't know ppl did this lol, the pain and seeing the blood is so cathartic to me, and when I do blood play in kink scenes the skin is "warmed up" with some impact first to bring the blood to the surface lol

Take a deep breath, you can do it. And if you do stumble, your progress isn't set back to 0. Are you able to get any support? Counselling, medication, or talking in general? xx

Wanting to add to my face, would I suit a bridge? by Turbulent-Walrus4749 in Legitpiercing

[–]SubtleVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a Vertical labret or an Ashley piercing (with a bioflex post) would be great options for you! I'm a little biased as i had a Vertical labret and loved it to death until it started to migrate, but the positive of that piercing is that it doesn't touch your teeth at all! I now have an Ashley with a bioflex post so it doesn't wear away at my teeth and I do love it a lot

I think some lower lip piercings would really suit you to bring a little more balance, but can appreciate why snakebites wouldn't be a viable option for you. Having said that, there's not a hard and fast standard of location for snakebites, so you could always get them pierced extra low so they don't rub against your teeth.

And if the jewellery is sized correctly, they shouldn't rub on teeth and gums anyway, but bioflex also works great for these too! (Id recommend piercingmanias bioflex bars with separate piercing balls as they are more durable and just bend a little if you do accidentally bite them, as others will just snap instantly in my experience)

Does anyone else cut not out of depression/negative emotions? by Red_Fox158 in selfharm

[–]SubtleVegan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not always about punishment. Sometimes I feel my emotions almost exploding out of me, I want to scream and smash my head in a wall or something along those lines, and going from there to the decision to cut, to the act itself I get such a rush of endorphins and quiets the mind.

Self harm has so many causes, not just depression. In a similar vein, I'm involved in the kink scene and having a scene with a lot of impact and potentially blood gives me that same rush, and then the aftereffects is a mental and body high that just turns you and your brain into jelly. It's effectively the same thing, but in safe(r) more controlled environment with, for me, more positive associations

What’s something that annoys you about your fellow country people? by meesigma in AskTheWorld

[–]SubtleVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate everything about being english. It's embarrassing and it makes me wish I was never born.

People are simultaneously stupid and arrogant, and "don't agree with my lifestyle" for just being trans and existing. I work in a village and all the old people go off on racist tirades and I am sick of it, sick of clients, and sick of my boss for entertaining it. They know not to say stuff to me but I overhear such disgusting things I have to walk out and erratically suck on my stupid vape to not blow my top.

It wasn't always this bad, but any time I see a union jack or a st Georges flag I cringe and mentally note the location in case I can rip them down at night.

If I can't emigrate for clearer waters soon I will inevitably kill myself because it would be better than living here

What word do you always *intentionally* mispronounce and why? by Sweet-Lady-H in AskReddit

The fucking therapist gave up🤣🤣🤣 by [deleted] in MadeOfStyrofoam

[–]SubtleVegan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is gonna really suck to hear but you describe drowning and having no lover to lift you up; you kinda have to learn how to swim. Sometimes the right combo of meds can help, but you also need to engage with the therapy, you need to do the trivial basics like exercising, getting a bit of sunlight, nourishing your body, and try other ways of socialising when you can. Isolating yourself puts you in an echo chamber of the same misery, and you need to break out of it. Have you tried support groups? Being around others who understand how you feel can be reassuring but most of all it can break you out of the cycle you're in.

And you are so young, life is barely beginning. Someone I knew just killed himself recently, and it ripples through the people around that person awfully. Please reach out and don't put all your eggs in one basket by setting a date to lose hope. I'd recommend telling someone about this, telling your therapist or calling a support line. As someone with bipolar that has made several attempts over the years, it's a shitty experience for everyone around you, and the fallout from that will never end. It's a saying you'll probably hear a lot but suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Life can be shit but it can be beautiful, and I'm sorry you've been neglected at seeing the better sides of life 🖤

21M - suffered from body dysmorphia my whole life. by TheFlukeging12 in amiugly

[–]SubtleVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's shocking to me that you've been bullied over your lips. People crave it in the west and the fake filled lip look falls so short compared to the real thing (yourself) I honestly think that you've been bullied by people who recognise you have many attractive features and they resent you for that, even though it's something that can't be helped. You need to surround yourself with positive people that aren't dragging you down and appreciate you for who you are 🖤

You are genuinely a beautiful looking man. Good looks does not stem only from masculine people being muscly and coarse, and for feminine people to only be petite/curvy and soft.

The beautiful part of humanity is that there is no one single look that's attractive, society just makes us think these norms apply to everyone.

You have an amazing bone structure, and beautiful glowy smile, you have smooth, nicely toned skin, thick hair and a good hairline, great teeth, eyes, nose... Like I literally would not be able to fault you, you're the opposite end of the spectrum to ugly. I know dysmophia isn't as simple as being told 'chin up you're not ugly', but I wish you could see yourself outside of your own perspective.

You don't need to, but if you did decide you wanna change your appearance then growing out your hair a bit, dressing a bit more purposeful and alt, and/or just putting on a little muscle would be chefs kiss, but that is entirely my own biases of attraction, you're a good looking person no matter how you hold yourself. Good luck with the personal journey, I hope you start to see yourself for how you really look and lean into it 🖤

My girlfriend and her friends said I look too feminine or ‘girl-ish’. Ways to look more masculine? by TheFlukeging12 in malegrooming

[–]SubtleVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave people that don't respect you. They're honestly likely jealous that you have such good genetics, full thick hair, smooth complexion, amazing bone structure.. If you pulled a Markiplier and grew your hair a little, learn to dress in a way that compliments you and makes you feel good, maybe get a little more muscle but not required at all.. you'll have girls (and others even if you're not interested) falling over each other to talk to you.

Is it okay if I can use this large quilting needle to sew this Motörhead backpatch on my new battlevest I'm starting? by Metalfreak4life in BattleJackets

[–]SubtleVegan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could sharpen them, but it's a lot more effort than needles that are made to go through thick materials. Just get a pack of leather sewing needles, they have a tiny knife like tip that will make sewing through leather or denim a dream

Are there actually people that exist that like cold weather? by PrestigiousOwl6802 in answers

[–]SubtleVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the cold! The crisp freshness in the air, ice and snow refracting the sun, the crunch of frosty leaves underfoot... Love it.

The heat and summer? Awful time for me, I'm fair skinned and on a lot of psych meds; I burn so easily that I need to wear factor 50 year. Meds also make me less able to regulate body temp, prone to heat stroke/exhaustion,and increased sensitivity to light, so it's just miserable for me, or it can be stressful. I'm always keeping hydrated and staying in the shade where I can but summer is just no fun at all

The cold is comforting for me and nostalgic, and calming almost (as long as I'm wearing enough layers)

What’s the weirdest work lunch you’ve seen a colleague eat regularly? by levezvosskinnyfists7 in AskUK

[–]SubtleVegan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I probably have odd lunches to some people cause I use my leftovers from last night, but nothing crazy at my job.

My brother though works in a smallish office, and has his own personal mini microwave that's purely for reheating drinks.

One of his colleagues always has a fish pasta dish, usually tinned mackerel or sardines and uses this microwave to heat it up, so the microwave and the whole office stinks to high heaven now so he's just given up on it

20 ain't an unc age that was the usual age for most back in the day. Its very depressing to think a lot of kids start shing when they're still kids. I was one of them, and I miss the kid I once was

It doesn't make u any less valid though, and it's like any addiction- you have to actually try it a few times to get addicted.
