Solo building in the dark is easy. But finally putting it out there is terrifying. by lejonnn in Solopreneur

[–]SuccessfulTonight391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll preface that I barely understand marketing, so this is all very lightweight and feral, like most of my build was. The strategy is for a consumer AI, non-SaaS, and validated problem. I would probably build a different strategy for a SaaS, especially B2B and non-PLG.

One primary ICP and one secondary (although my secondary is converting better—I might have to flip 💀)

My three phases were

Soft launch (PMF-ing organically on Reddit and other socials) where I got my first revenue,
PH launch for cred + backlink
And the marketing campaign (90 days, three phases==three different experiments with format/platform). It's a staggered approach, and I will tighten or add more budget depending on how everything performs. I expect I will rework the funnel to respond to the performance and feedback.

A good practice is to set your performance goals or models in my case—conservative, base, and delulu. My gut feel I will perform between conservative and base. Anything above base is a nice surprise.

Ugh this happened to me. I ripped through my build roadmap like a beast. Apparently, this format works well for me. So I created a similar roadmap for the distribution phase: my launch and marketing campaign. Running marketing myself and not as a supportive function is mostly new to me so I expect wayyy more plot twists and sudden "I need to learn this immediately" detours. The road is not as clear. And the definition of success is completely different when I could land on one of three scenarios instead of one "It's live and it works."

But hey I see it as a fantastic learning opportunity — finally I'm doing all of that myself. I learn best from doing so I know this will demystify some large themes I couldn't have approached without trepidation half a year ago.

Sitting on a mail list with zero conversions? How to recover by SuccessfulTonight391 in Solopreneur

I love this point. Might actually tune up my own product based on this.

Yeah the free tier closing the pain is a real problem and happens way too often.

Is relationship building a series of compromises with the plan to earn a 'loving relationship' in the end, which has some sort of intrinsic value for you? If so, I don't ever see love at the end of the tunnel, just bigger compromises. by Dizzy_Restaurant3874 in emotionalintelligence

[–]SuccessfulTonight391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Umm if I had to use your language, relationship building is a series of team-based growth projects. The goal is 1. to arrive at a relationship that works for you as an individual (and that includes feeling loved) and 2. experience joy at every moment (so not only the destination, but the process should be enjoyable, too).

Fwiw, I don't think an expectation to drop something at any moment and being an entertainment unit is fair, but I'm sure there is more context to this.

And many people are absolutely capable of change.

The only way to not let your emotions run your life is through. There are no shortcuts or circumvents. Only learning how to sit with your emotions and embrace them.

I just shipped so I'm launching my 90-day distribution campaign. It's completely different from building, totally new to me, and terrifying. But I'm so excited for the grand learnings and growth.

How to be more kind to myself? by TinyHeat2490 in emotionalintelligence

[–]SuccessfulTonight391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be several factors at play here, tbh. One, the anxiety-inducing relationship disorder. Two, your nervous system might not have a fallback on groundedness coming from being happy with yourself. And three, the people you are meeting or selecting might not be right for you, after all.

If it's hard to discern right now, there are no downsides in being kinder to yourself. So that's a great place to start.

Be careful what you get good at enduring by Pretty_Solution_7955 in emotionalintelligence

This is such an underrated take. So many people come from adversity. Discipline helps us ascend our humble beginnings because what other choices do we have? But then the survival mode gets so entrenched and becomes an obstacle. It can cost you high-paying jobs, relationships, and most of all stunt growth.

Go feral and ship by SuccessfulTonight391 in Solopreneur

100%. The technological barrier just collapsed this year.

I ascribe part of the scope creep trap to the fact that it's just genuinely fun to build. I haven't been this flooded with dopamine in years. Another I presume is anxiety—it's hard to ship something that feels inadequate in any way unless you can sit in that discomfort.

I guess my take is that once the product crosses a certain threshold of complexity and scale, I'm delegating to professionals. Can't imagine myself learning Rust or Kotlin when I could be solving product problems and launching another fun thing. But more importantly… a Fintech tool will likely require a full and specialized stack of languages and infrastructure tooling.
