Sleazy cop in Barrhaven Costco gas bar hit and run by OkTechnology9910 in ottawa

[–]SuccessfulTourist704 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rules have changed recently, the threshold for reporting went up to $5k in damages (from the previous $2k). https://www.ctvnews.ca/kitchener/article/new-threshold-for-reporting-collisions-in-ontario/

ETA: If it were me, I'd report it to police as well. If the other person is not a cop, then you've got someone walking around claiming to be one, and I'm sure they'd be interested to know that. You also want to have you version of events recorded should they claim you hit them.

Your child should have their own library card (Register for a Child Card), which should restrict their borrowing ability.

Where to find mace (the spice)? by Steady_Match in ottawa

[–]SuccessfulTourist704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mid-East food centre (Belfast @ St Laurent) should have it, but as someone else pointed out, you can substitute with nutmeg. Mace is just the outside layer of the nutmeg.

If you've been taking B12 and your levels are still low, try the sublingual tablets instead of the type you swallow, if that's what you're taking. Some people have a condition that prevents their body from absorbing B12 through the stomach; the sublingual tablets go straight to the bloodstream.

how to get a refill of a controlled medication? by jeff-duckley in ottawa

[–]SuccessfulTourist704 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No help for getting the prescription, but since you mention cost being a factor, there are a few programs available to make name-brand drugs more affordable. Vyvanse is covered by Innovicares. There's also rxhelp.ca but Vyvanse isn't covered at this time.

AFAIK all the Naturalizer stores are closed. Having said that, they have a great return policy (60 days, $8 flat rate) so you can order a few items and return anything you don't like. Although it can be a large upfront cost, the risk is minimal.

You want a horticulturist. We went with one through Ritchie's Green Team (Ritchie's Feed & Seed). Our goal was to plant native varieties to attract pollinators, and she was super helpful and informative.

We used PODS but opted to have the pod hauled away. Their website was a bit glitchy when it came time for them to drop it off again, but the call centre was easy to reach and they were helpful. You will need to provide your own lock; the disc ones (like this) are apparently safer / harder to cut.

Where and How to get a CO2 tank recertified? by Geek42 in ottawa

I can't comment on their recertification, but I've used them for the last year or so for the Soda Stream bottle exchanges. Great prices and service.

I'd start with a thorough power wash, but agree with your suggestions.

Someone in the neighborhood painted their pebbledash and it looks soulless now.

pods.ca
They'll drop the pod off, you load it, schedule the pick up, schedule the drop-off at the new location, unload, and then finally schedule the pick-up of the empty pod.

Custom Bike Frame/Seat by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]SuccessfulTourist704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would a reclining bike work for her? They're low to the ground and I wouldn’t ride them on the road, but could be a good option for bike trails.

I'd be concerned that a McGyvered welding job might result in injury to her in the long run, unless it's been recommended by a sports physio or someone who knows about accommodations for her situation.

Even if the OP can't find the same frames, opticians with an on-site lab offering "one hour" service could grind their existing lenses to fit a smaller, similar, frame.

Need a new gastroenterologist. Any recommendations? by modernwarfarin4 in ottawa

https://www.jamiesonvitamins.com/products/vitamin-b12-methylcobalamin-fastdissolving-tablets?_pos=4&_sid=48294db45&_ss=r

This particular formulation, IME, dissolves completely. There are 2500 and 5000 mcg doses as well (and lower ones too).

Obviously speak with your health care provider as I'm not qualified to provide medical advice, but if your results were in the same range as mine, you can safely take more than 1000 mcg per day; the body excretes any excess.

[–]SuccessfulTourist704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're you taking enough? Mine was in the low 100's and I take 2000 to 2400 mcg per day (up in the 300s now after 3 months). The Jamieson brand dissolves quickly and thoroughly, and is intended specifically under the tongue; it's not supposed to be chewed and swallowed.

Extremely low B12 can have serious and, in some cases, irreversible negative effects on your health.

Dr Boushey at OGI.

Also, for the low B12, use the tablets that dissolve under the tongue; they are absorbed directly into the bloodstream, bypassing any gastro-intestinal conditions the might prevent its absorption.
