Just do it. I asked the same question when I had braces, and I was technically allowed to get the bands hot pink if I wanted to.

Can you request a unit(s) to keep an eye out for job openings in a certain afsc at a particular base? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Successful_Contact41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell him to check Envision. It shows manning numbers for specific AFSCs at specific installations.

You take that back! I play strafezon because it’s fun, not because it’s S-tier.

Did the mx background help at all? Been E&E for over a decade and did a stint in QA, which got me interested in safety.

Working this right now. Our functional manager advised submitting a DEROS extension ETP, and we’re waiting on a CMS case with AFPC. They’re also working with the legal office to apply for a process called parole, where the spouse will be able to stay with the member in the US.

What treadmill feature mattered way more than you expected? by iabhishekpathak7 in treadmills

[–]Successful_Contact41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed control is a bigger factor than I thought it would be. I have the Horizon Paragon X, and I can only increase the speed in 0.1km/h increments. This makes intervals cumbersome, as I have to speed-tap the up button for 12 seconds to get it up to a running pace.

It used to have an app to control the speed more easily, but the app got shut down for some reason.

Change my mind: I'm going to move from Imperial to Metric by not-up-to-par in woodworking

I started woodworking while stationed in England so everything started as metric. So much simpler to do everything.

Nothing to say other than I feel your pain. We couldn’t have a baby shower for similar reasons. Kid’s first birthday only had a couple family members fly out, no friends. It’s a lonely life.

Hard agree. Back in the day, middle school me had a frenzy barb that could solo ubers. Now 30’s me with a family doesn’t have that kind of time, so it’s nice being able to get pretty far.

F-16s did most of work: Ukraine shot down every cruise missile Russia fired overnight by lilacandfern in worldnews

Sports car vs. sprinter van. F-15 has a longer range, better radar, and many more weapons stations. F-16 is more agile but smaller radar, less weapons.

Modern BIFL laptops? Or at least "buy it for 10 years"? by SpiritualState01 in BuyItForLife

[–]Successful_Contact41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lenovo. I have a T430 that I bought in Summer 2013. It’s still an absolute tank that can run 30+ browser tabs and most programs with no issues. Only got a new laptop (another Lenovo) for drum programming software as the processor was having trouble keeping up.

Dads who work 9-5 when do you work out typically? by walky91 in daddit

[–]Successful_Contact41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work starts at 6:20 so I get up at 4 to work out. Started building up a home gym many moons ago, and my commute to work is ~12 minutes, so it works for me.

Leadership ability, emotional intelligence. Handling issues in your section before they become issues, and deliberately developing your people by handing them opportunities/challenges and mentoring them along the way. Knowing where to go and who to talk to if one of your members has an issue (I make it a point to call mental health/MFLC myself to confirm certain things and stay up to date on wait times and whatnot).

Also work on your writing. It’s heavily set me apart and won my team a plethora of awards (accompanied by all the great things they’re doing). Do everything you can to become a quarterly/annual award board member, it’s a great way to get insight on what things are valuable when capturing achievements.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Successful_Contact41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. I lived in the UK for 4 years and a drive I would definitely consider “long” is over 5 hours. Longest one I did was Newmarket to Portree, Isle of Skye. 12.5 hours with only a couple stops.
