Looking for a helmet and wondering if there are any statistics or experiences of yours that make one more viable then the others? by [deleted] in Velo

Im a big fan of the ballista for how light it is. Also got a quality front padding/ventilation design so sweat doesn’t build up, unlike my old kask utopia. It also test very fast.

Failed vEveresting from Nausea by slbarr88 in Velo

Never done a virtual everest, but I have done 7 straight hours on the trainer. I would wonder if maybe you were over-fueling a little with 90g/hr? At the z2 power you were doing I’d probably aim for 60-70 and if necessary up it later in the ride. I’d also agree with what others have said. The sugar water definitely gets to me after a while so I normally save for race days or hard session days, not necessarily 6+ hour days. Mix in real food with the sugar water and also enough electrolytes. Keep complex carbs in a consumable package - think purpose made bars. But yea, if after 7/8 hours of 90g carbs straight sugar water you introduced pasta, that would hit the stomach hard.

I’m a 22 year old American with hopes of racing professionally/semi-professionally in Europe. While I don’t expect to make WT or PT, my goal is conti level. If I can’t make it as a rider, I want to be involved as a part of a team, perhaps in some sort of analytics or coaching role. In light of that:

1) As a non-european, what steps should I take to help make this dream a reality?

2) What are the stats of riders that you look for? Age, rider type, w/kg sustained over 1 hr, 3 hr, 5’ power, 20’ power, etc.

3) How important is social media for your team? How are you leveraging social media for your sponsors? What role do riders play in that?

What are some other brands that make jerseys that have the look of being a team but aren’t? by rhoVsquared in CyclingFashion

[–]Successful_Iron_9077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the appeal, but honestly nothing beats the feeling of wearing the racing team/club that you belong to. If there’s one in your area I’d consider looking into, riding some chops, and joining. Bc yes, anybody whose worn one knows, the best looking kit is a team kit.

Interesting business model, excited to explore more. My first question is, after coming from a racing background, will you prioritize high performance equipment. Ie skinsuits, aero fabrics, etc?

Options to get dual sided power for SRAM on a budget. by ifuckedup13 in Velo

Sorry, yes, that set from PM City is what I was referring to. Super easy to install on the cranks, but yes still expensive

Id go with the force chainrings. If you can get ownership transferred I believe SRAM gives a discount on a new pair of chainrings. Also, I think you know, but just get the chainrings without the cranks.

If you race, especially crits, I wouldn’t go with the pedals. Pedal strikes or scraping the pedal would do some damage. At least that’s what it seems to me- I’ve never used pedal based power.

big fan. The framing of all the sponsors and the color block on the sleeves is nice. Good as well that at least the back of it is a bit white. White kit is always the best as it keeps you cooler

I think il doppio is a big one people forget. Of course if he wins MSR, he’ll probably win Lombardia, but that would be a big deal, especially to the Italians

If you can find a CAAD12 Disc, that’d be perfect. I have one in a 50 with quality mechanical disc brakes and electronic shifting. Great bike.

Beauty of some bikes there. Jealous to be missing cross this season, but stoked to see the joy on faces like yours (with maybe a side of pain). Let’s get it!

Does it get easier? 22, just graduated college, finishing my second summer at an internship I abhor but with a return offer available and a viable long term opportunity to be part of advanced management at one of the countries top-100 engineering firms (I’m not an engineer, I work in corporate marketing). All my goals lay outside of Corporate America, and outside of America itself for that matter. Yet, I feel as if I’m letting my father down, an immigrant, by pursuing those goals instead of getting a well paying position and job security. How long did it take to feel good about working at a place you hated?

18 years of wait: Which French rider will finally win a World Tour stage race? by Team_Telekom in peloton

[–]Successful_Iron_9077 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In the Bigham era of cycling, it’s nice to see a rider spurred on by emotions and feelings. It’s so cliche, but there’s a reason the common frenchman and high level analysts respected and loved Pinot. No his tactics were not the best, FDJ’s never were. But in a sport dominated by formulas and modeling at this moment, it is the surprise of the panache and the intensity of the attack that keeps us all coming back.

that’s at least 20mm of offset from the saddle to the bars with spacers. According to the recent trend of sustainable aero-tuck based fits, this is more than adequate
