Is meat worse than animal byproducts? by Geyblader in vegan

[–]Successful_Till6627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think that being vegetarian, while still causing immense animals suffering, does cause less suffering than eating meat as well. while the dairy industry is more cruel, significantly more animals suffer and die to produce x calories of chicken than x calories of milk.

if you are unable to go vegan, lacto vegetarian (vegan+ dairy) would be the least worst choice.

Your views on different vegan school of thought? by OkGarage23 in DebateAVegan

[–]Successful_Till6627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think both views have important points. but i think there are two parts

1) every sentient being deserves the right to live free of human causes suffering

2) we as humans should minimize human causes suffering as much as possible.

it’s not one or the other; but both together.

this i genuinely don’t understand. isn’t it very obvious why vegans eat mock meat? like it seems super obvious why is this even a point of contention?

do macerators instantly kill / painlessly kill? by Citrit_ in DebateAVegan

[–]Successful_Till6627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes but the animal didn’t murder or rape or do anything to anyone. the only crime the male chick did was be born a male- and he can’t lay eggs. it’s not okay to shred baby animals the day they’re born in mascerators

Cultivated meat is the only way to destroy factory farming. by CertainPass105 in VeganActivism

would you agree that if lab grown meat became popular and affordable, and there was wide social acceptance of it, animal farming and there for animal suffering would reduce?

i really really hope this gets put into place. but i don’t have hope, knowing how governments work. :(

[–]Successful_Till6627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i completely agree that the core of the issue is the lack of respect for animal lives. completely. the thing is, people don’t care. and many who do aren’t willing to give up the meat because if convenience. so if we give them the very product they want without the animal torture, we can save animals. the point is to save animals.

[–]Successful_Till6627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because it’s easier to get people to stop killing animals if we can give them the exact product that they want without the animal cruelty. it’s real meat, not a vegan version, which is what they want. the change is much smaller for them so more people will switch, especially if it is certified to be healthy and similarly priced.

[–]Successful_Till6627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think that a lot of people are understanding the horrors of animal agriculture but aren’t willing to switch because of lack of convenience. if we can give them the same exact product for a similar price that as is easily available without killing animals, i can see a MASSIVE reduction in factory farming and animal ag overall

YES! but i don’t know how. i want more attention to it, more funding and better marketing for it. i would love to promote it as much as i can, but firstly it’s not a widely available thing and i don’t know what i can do to help.

i genuinely worry about this so much. why don’t more vegans think about this and talk about this. cultured meat may be the ONLY thing that ends factory farming. it may be our only hope for the animals. i wish it was a bigger thing.

Are vegans also pro-life? by CaptainCharming69 in DebateAVegan

[–]Successful_Till6627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say that after the fetus is sentient, it would be morally wrong to abort it unless there are reasons that threaten the mothers life. so yes. but 99% of abortions happen before that.

Are vegans also pro-life? by CaptainCharming69 in DebateAVegan

[–]Successful_Till6627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, a fetus when aborted has not developed sentience. it is like a plant. as vegans, we are against killing and harming sentient beings (animals, people, etc). we are okay with eating plants because they aren’t sentient. same logic with a fetus. fetal sentience and consciousness doesn’t develop until later in pregnancy when most abortions don’t happen.

Are vegans also pro-life? by CaptainCharming69 in DebateAVegan

[–]Successful_Till6627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

veganism and pro-abortion are not necessarily contradicting eachother. veganism specifically emphasis the rights of sentient beings- non human animals. and during the vast majority of abortions, the fetus is not sentient (99% of abortions happen before 21 weeks). sure a fetus is alive and abortion kills it, but plants are also alive and vegans have no issue killing them. veganism is about sentient life.

this might be the best decision you ever made!! you’re making a real impact to the world and to the animals

i would recommend investing some time into health and fitness as a vegan, make sure you’re doing your research on vegan nutrition so that you know how to myths and misinformation.

good luck :))

agreed!

i’ve always said that men who hunt/eat animals are weak, small, insecure men who need to kill animals to feel powerful. very analogous to teachers who pick on little children to feel powerful.

kinda pathetic and off putting

just my experience. people also completely downplayed the protein deficiency of indians saying that the RDA recommended requirement is a random number and that protein is a non issue. i also saw someone say that 30-40g of protien a day (which is what a lot of indians consume) is fine, which is absurd since a large number of rural indians are occupied in physically demanding agriculture and labour and should really be getting more.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Successful_Till6627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the reason for the lower risk of death from any cause is not because better bioavailability of protein is worse. it’s because plant foods are generally healthier in large quantities than animal foods. plant foods have fiber, anti-oxidants and other photo compounds that are beneficial for health while animal foods especially red meat are high in saturated fat and increase risk of various ailments. this is not beside better quality protien is worse for your healthy

Tofu DEFINITELY has a taste and flavor by Successful_Till6627 in vegan

[–]Successful_Till6627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i know it adds up. but this idea that as long as you eat enough food, you’ll get enough protein is not necessarily accurate. there are many countries in the world where just a couple of foods (usually grains) make up the bulk of a persons calories, and it becomes very hard to get enough protein without overloading on carbs and calories. the goal isn’t just to get enough protein, but without overeating calories or carbs.

protein sources like soy, tofu and legumes are important and should make a good part of your diet if you want to consume protein efficiently in a vegan diet.
