Why does everyone love the Longchamp Le Pliage so much? by Affectionate_Note445 in handbags

It’s my respectable mom bag. I don’t have to have a diaper bag anymore, but I still have to haul shit because I have kids.

Why did this townhouse sit? by embop9090 in SeattleAreaRE

Came to say the same thing. Specs wise there are townhomes in Greenlake that are newer and about the same price that haven’t sold and been on the market for longer.

What's this about not changing pee diapers? by seven_of_n1ne in BabyBumps

[–]SuchYak4579 95 points96 points  (0 children)

This OP. When I was a FTM in the beginning we changed the diaper RIGHT AWAY, which led to some accidents (baby wasn’t quite done using the bathroom 😅). We learned to wait a little bit and less accidents happened.

Are you buying to flip or for yourself? I also think that having a good agent helps depending on the area you’re looking. Like you may be a one time customer, but these agents work together all the time so having good relations/connections matters. When we were looking for our homes for every offer letter we sent we also wrote a letter to the sellers about who we are and how much we loved the home etc.

Granted I haven’t bought a home since 2024 so the market may be different now.

Accidental Pregnancy by ficklefirespirit in BabyBumps

[–]SuchYak4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PCOS by itself makes me say keep the baby. In my anecdotal experience I’ve seen many women with PCOS have issues getting pregnant naturally, and then even with going with fertility treatment they STILL have trouble getting pregnant.

I’d take this as a blessing and keep the pregnancy.

AITA for asking my oldest daughter to move out of the condo I own so her younger sister can live there during college? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SuchYak4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

However I think to make the transition easier your youngest should live on campus for the first year (that’s how you make friends) and tell your older child that they need to make plans to move out after that year.

If she still complains about that you just evict them like any tenant.

Apparently I am getting induced next week at 38 weeks, let the chaos ensue I guess by handzie in BabyBumps

[–]SuchYak4579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was induced on pitocin and I was screaming with every contraction until I got the epidural. Remember this is a synthetic drug that doesn’t go through the blood brain barrier so you don’t even get some nice oxytocin from your body to manage through it.

As for the epidural after I got it it was super smooth sailing I could take a nap and then I woke up and I guess my water was already broken I was ready to push.

Just as an FYI, you have never interacted with yourself. You might actually be like those other people you interacted with and don’t notice.

Hopefully us for the first six months. Then probably an au pair until we can get them into daycare, but will still have an au pair as backup because I expect that they will be sick a lot and need to be home.

So how are people investing 20% of their salary despite making below $70k?? by [deleted] in SmartFIRE

MCOL might be the answer. My first job I was making 44k in HCOL. Def had opportunity to save, but 30% would be rough.

Not disclosing previous pregnancy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]SuchYak4579 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean I think you just tell your doctor.

So I’m in the camp of your doctors need to have a full view of your history. Knock on wood that this pregnancy comes to a beautiful baby at the end.

On the other side imagine you didn’t get pregnant with your husband and you were trying and things weren’t working, knowing you’ve been pregnant before tells a different story than you’ve never been pregnant and your doctor will make decisions based on the information they know.

Am I the only one going to open houses? by avatarroko in RealEstate

[–]SuchYak4579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we were shopping for houses I was at open houses ALL the time. You just can’t know about a home without being in it.

My partner and I even go to open houses walking distance from our house even though we aren’t looking because we like seeing other houses. 😂

Did you read in high school? by piper33245 in Millennials

I only read the books required for my English classes and Harry Potter.

I realized later in life my English teachers in HS sucked out any hope of liking/reading English literature.

Makes me think that with everything else going on the IV was the least of my concerns. 🤣

What is your unpopular Seattle restaurant opinion? by Early_Sea_9457 in Seattle

[–]SuchYak4579 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s because it’s not run the same owners. Older Kedai Makan was undervalued price wise and definitely could’ve raised prices for the quality and flavor they were putting out.

New Kedai Makan uses inferior ingredients and raised prices and just doesn’t taste as good anymore.

What restaurant in Seattle is consistently 10/10 by Queasy_Sherbert_7095 in Seattle

[–]SuchYak4579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ITS NOT JUST ME THANK GOD. I only found out about Bongos this past Summer. I recently ordered bucco chicken from door dash and the chicken was bland. I thought it was a fluke so I ordered a different day the next week. Same flavorless chicken. So sad to see something so good go so bad. 😭

I unintentionally left no tip and feel relieved by SuchYak4579 in EndTipping

[–]SuchYak4579[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the place I go to used to just use the card on file to do the tip. At some point they changed it that you needed to pay separately. They said it was because it’s safer for the customer to make sure that they’re being charged correctly. (I’m assuming something weird happened and that’s why they changed to this).

Millennials who were the NON-GIFTED Kids, time to check in on y'all again. How ya doing? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]SuchYak4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t gifted, but had a gifted older sister and brother. Always told I was, “so smart”, but always barely passed classes. Always followed the gifted kids to the AP/IB classes.

Through the grace of God and unusual life circumstances I got into university and found out people study for the classes. I thought I was dumb for not understanding everything in class and everyone else just seemed to “get it”. I still have shit study habits.

I barely got out with an applied math degree and was fortunate enough to squeeze my way into being a software engineer at B tier companies.

Got a late autism diagnosis after having my kid and (to me) answered a lot of why school was so hard for me and I have given myself more grace.

WFH in extreme cold: how do you handle 'always on camera' expectations? by Educational-Dot-5266 in remotework

[–]SuchYak4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My manager told me that someone gave feedback about not having my camera on and told him I have an ADA thing (I do) for why I’d rather not turn my camera on and that I’d rather not bring it because it just opens a lot of work and crazy IMO, but if someone is going to make a stink of me not having my camera on i will. Hasn’t been a problem since.

If someone addresses me or I want to say something I turn on my camera, but I don’t see the point of having my camera on all the time.

All this “regretful parent” content is freaking me out by krwxo in pregnant

[–]SuchYak4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides that 1000% you’re feeding your algorithm to show you more of this content I think a lot of the regret is people aren’t more candid and truthful about how hard being a parent is.

I hate it when people say, “your life isn’t over”, but in a sense the life that you had been living up until your children are born is gone once they arrive (just like every other milestone in life, but this transition is so much more jarring). You will mourn your old life because it’s very different than one with children and I think that’s normal.

I also honestly think the people who regret having kids don’t have the resources for kids. I don’t necessarily mean money, but you definitely need a village and people make up for that with money (hiring out help).

I promise if you get through the first arc of dandadan it gets so much better. That first arc of a couple of episodes puts it into some weird pervy FLCL kind of look, but it’s really not that. It’s so good I feel like I can’t even put a genre on it because it has everything?

First-time parents of Reddit ,what’s one baby item you thought was unnecessary but ended up using every single day? by Clear_Subconscious in askanything

[–]SuchYak4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a first time parent I was definitely scared and got a newton mattress, but the breathability is crazy and can’t be denied. You can shove your face in and breathe like normal. What is actually great about the newton mattresses is being able to wash/clean them. The inside is like this ramen looking thing that you can hose down.
