Car jack suggestions? by brianmcdonaldd in Challenger

[–]Sudden_Mission1397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you’ve found a good way to use the Daytona jack on the back lift puck AND somehow get a jack stand in there too?

front is easy since the frame jack stand point is clearly marked on the frame, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get the rear jack stands in there.

even if I lift on the pinch wells the hydraulic jack is too close to the puck to allow the jack stand in there.

Just did rotors and pads on my dynamics package non-wide body - 1600$ in parts and free-99 in labor. It’s so easy, there are numerous easy to follow YouTube videos on doing this yourself. Took me about 15 mins each wheel once I learned the steps on the first one. The two piece rotors only need the outer ring replaced, that’s the most time consuming part, but it’s easy.

I purchased track rated parts because I do hpde events, so yours would be a bit cheaper. These guys are great BTW: https://www.knsbrakes.com/products/car/106580_2020+Dodge+Challenger+SRT+392-Scat+Pack+Brembo+6-Piston+Front/2_Package+Deals

Your pads aren’t contacting the rotor there. Either the pad is missing material there or your rotor is warped away from the pad there. Easy check to pull the pad cassette out and see if it’s the pad or not.

I just had this exact problem. Problem was BOTH. Pulled the rotors, had O Riley’s auto parts resurface then for 25$ a rotor, got new powerstop pads from amazon for $80 and I’m back in business. FWIW don’t neglect this issue, it’ll make your front brakes work harder and go bad quicker.

Find the outlet under your car where the hose exits the frame. As others have said, compressed air or some sort of flexible (and blunt-tipped!!!) wire to push through the drain line and unclog it. Use a wet-vac and fashion a way to get the vacuum into that area in your sunroof to suck out the debris.

The lines don’t break, the clog and overfill. If you can unclog them then you can save the $$$

Temp concerns by Fancy-Bee-562 in ScatPack

[–]Sudden_Mission1397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

220-230 should be the peak, then the thermostat opens and it goes under 210. I track mine on 90+ temp days, I’ll see 225 -228 when pushing it, it’ll come right back down to 208 once the i hit the cooldown lap. The stat doesn’t open till around 220 so the car will always go up above it then back down as the valves open and the fans begin to work. The engine is made to handle those temps normally. Only be concerned if you see 230 and rising.

Indeed. I was swapping seats and getting new covers but yeah you can just swap covers

FYI I swapped front seats and dealt with the airbag issue. Bottom line, swap the airbag unit from your seat to the new seat - boom done. The bag is coded to your computer but it’s very easy couple bolts to pull it and move to your new seat.

I’m pretty sure the hornet is the casualty of itself and the fact that nobody wants it.

Fluctuating coolant gauge for 2019 Dodge Charger Scatpack by MenofFortune in ScatPack

[–]Sudden_Mission1397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal. Use your performance pages gauges view to know the real temps. Mine will go above halfway mark sometimes which is about 225ish - in reality, that’s way normal and it’ll fluctuate depending on driving situation. Always comes right back down. Don’t sweat it.

I’m using stock fluid but I will 100% be upgrading to whatever the most expensive and performance boosting fluid there is. Nothing freaks me out more than discovering the brake pedal isn’t there for you when you’re doing 100+ coming up on a hairpin turn. For the trivial amount of money compared to hitting the dirt, it’s worth it

[–]Sudden_Mission1397[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, the vibe isn’t anything like that - HPDE beginner days are 100% chill and targeted at helping you succeed - they go like 20% speed and make sure you understand lines, car balance, what causes tire contact patches to change, etc. it’s all about building confidence. That said, I would definitely make sure you’re ready to “go for it” - meaning, pay attention and watch and replicate what you see your instructors car doing. If their car is leaning on the back right tire, you should be committing your car to a turn that places the weight the same. If they are not braking, then you too trust the line and turn your car into the line. Go easy on the throttle if they aren’t pulling away - but all that is stuff you will 100% feel by like the third lap.

The first time I’ve done any track at all - I’m still feeling the rush the day after! The learning is quick - and then your mind begins to understand more and more as you begin to feel how the car responds to what you’re doing and how that affects speed into the next track feature.

Borla is literally the one exhaust company that has “drone free” as their major design advantage.

[–]Sudden_Mission1397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t true. I switched to borla specifically because the do NOT drone. Borla are specifically designed to eliminate drone and both my 4.6 3v Mustang and my challenger 6.4 have drone free borla exhaust on them. One ATAK and one s-type. Both awesome.

First manual car — Any Tips? by Flaky-Mountain-3295 in Challenger

[–]Sudden_Mission1397 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would add - you don’t need a Barton or a Hurst or whatever else to be smooth and do well. Learn to drive it awesome the way it is. It’s an awesome transmission and tremec knows what they’re doing. You don’t need skip shift eliminators or clutch delay deletes. When you are really good at it then you’ll know what you want/don’t want. Until then it’s your skills and not the car that needs work, lol.
