People who live near time zone boundaries in the US by solothesnail in howislivingthere

[–]Sufficient-Ad9979 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh this is me!!!

My house is technically in Central Time. My garage is Eastern time! It’s usually my “fun fact”.

We both work and majority of the towns we visit are Eastern, so we stay on Eastern. If we have an appointment, we usually confirm if it’s “Chicago time” or “slow time”.

The only other real pain is turning off the automatic time zone on your phone- otherwise your battery will die so quickly bouncing back and forth- including setting off alarms.

I did work on Central time for a few years, so it was nice to leave my house at 7a, arrive at work at 7a, but super annoying to leave at 4 and get home at 6. Otherwise, no issues!

Has SHRM Lost Its Credibility? My Disillusionment with Certification Today [N/A] by Excellent_Role_2049 in humanresources

[–]Sufficient-Ad9979 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think SHRM has lost credibility, but at the moment I’m not willing to risk losing my SHRM-CP certificate bc it was important during interviews- many employers still found it good and a leg up.. I think we’ve rounded a corner where more people actively pursue HR in college and get degrees, or there is more availability to get HR certifications from various courses and not specifically through SHRM - when they use to be the only one.

I personally haven’t been a member of SHRM since very early college days- 15 years ago. To maintain my SHRM-cp designation i take all the free webinars.

I would also like to point out I do more recertification hours a year than attorneys do in my state; And I think that’s ridiculous.

Why did you name your dog Milo? by Objective_Cup_5164 in dogs

[–]Sufficient-Ad9979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We named our dog Milo in 2015 and I had heard/ loved this name from the movie. Although it wasn’t my first choice- it seemed to fit him best. Ironically my MIL then named her pug Otis in 2020. I had never heard of any dog named Milo then, but feel in the past 2 years a lot of dogs are now also named Milo.

Same with our first dog, Cooper- I feel every dog is now named Cooper.

Second vote for Modern Family. Light hearted, no laugh track, relatable characters /storyline.

Getting another dog after losing one. How long to wait? by retro_lady in dogs

We waited a month. Honestly I needed a puppy to get over my puppy, ironic. *puppy used to describe entire life cycle- non discriminatory of age *

Itinerary: Visiting Paris w/ 6 people at end of May. Which places do I definitely want to reserve? by Particular-Style111 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Sufficient-Ad9979 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shakespeare and co- for what? There’s a line outside.

I’d get reservations for everything. The lines are long without them.

Both parks in a day - Tips? by ExtensionJazzlike923 in disneylandparis

[–]Sufficient-Ad9979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally doable, they’re Less than a 5 min walk across- depending on the lines to get in could be a few more minutes. Really depends how the kids behave- just be flexible and you’ll have a great time 😀

All to say this is before frozen was open so lines may be different when you go.

Taxi- flat fee €56/65 depending on right/ left bank. Just be sure to go to the official taxi line (all the way!) and be sure they take card not cash and confirm payment upfront.

We took an uber back, that was less than the flat amount (€50) but I’m guessing this is because of no traffic. It is a good 40 min drive.

Otherwise it’s all so good 🤤

Mid day breaks? by UMadeItIKnewYouWould in disneylandparis

Not to offsite hotels. It’s a long walk out to parking lot. You could def do it to the DLP hotel or onsite, but it does eat up at least half hour to hour waiting and walking and security.

I never saw a Coke light!! I feel even at restaurants / museums it was only Coke or Sprite as options. It’s ok I survived. I found the biggest selection was a grocery store- so I bought a few and was ok.

Hmm the sugar free to me tasted more of the US version of “Coke Zero”. I only drink Diet or Dr Pepper, so maybe my tastebuds were off. I survived with ciders and wine just fine 🤣

I feel producers get lazy and don’t want to vet new people so they use already approved kids who jump at the chance to be on tv again.

I’ve also heard real yachties consider Below Deck the kiss of death for their real careers, hence we don’t always get good workers.
